Retailers Keeping Up with The Times

 

Today's Man (609-235-5656) and J. Baker, Inc. (617-828-9300) recently entered into an agreement allowing J. Baker to operate shoe departments inside of Today's Man stores.  The shoe departments are expected to debut in Today's Man Chicago stores next month and be located in all of Today's Man stores within two years.

 

Toys 'R Us (201-599-7850) plans to re-merchandise all of its toy stores with family-oriented computer software from NewMedia Express.  The company plans to supply Toys 'R Us with a selection of 150 titles.

 

Harris Teeter (704-845-3100), in a partnership with Shopping Alternatives, Inc., has begun offering customers the option of shopping from home in Charleston, SC.  Customers can fax orders from a catalog to Harris Teeter supermarkets during the day, Monday through Friday, and the items will be delivered that evening.

 

Adray's (818-908-1560) plans to scale back the number of software titles its stores carry from 2,000 titles to around 40 of the top selling titles in an effort to increase profits.  The company is also planning to reduce the number of computers it carries to the newest models.  The company operates 10 stores in CA.
