Linens ‘N Things (973-778-1300) closed its Memphis, TN location in Hickory Ridge Shopping Center, following a string of other retailer closings in the facility. They include Home Quarters, Upton’s Planet Music and Homelife Furniture. Shopping center officials blame corporate problems with the retailers, and not the location of the center, for the closings.

Friendly’s Ice Cream Shoppe (413-543-2400) recently closed 80 of its 683 restaurants, and plans to close 70 additional stores over the coming two years. The company’s recent strategy has been to close older, underperforming locations in favor of larger restaurants which better satisfy its core restaurant business. Locations of recent closings include two stores in OH and 11 stores in MA.
