Aeropostale (513-579-7000) will open a new store at Eastland Mall, one of four new stores scheduled to open this fall in the Bloomington, IL center. Aeropostale, a 100% private label retailer which targets young men and women, currently operates 200 stores in 23 states.

 

R/C Theatres (410-526-4774) plans to open a 57,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art cinema in Westview Entertainment Center at Frederick, MD. The company recently opened a similar complex in Hagerstown, MD, and have two additional complexes under construction: one each in Tampa and Daytona Beach, FL.

 

The Nutrition Club (412-490-2929) plans to open two new franchises in OH this month. The nutrition and supplements retailer plans to open 40 franchised and 10 company-owned stores in the northeast during the first year. It anticipates opening 900 to 1,000 stores by the end of its fifth year.

 

New World Coffee - Manhattan Bagel, Inc. (732-544-0155) plans to add five Manhattan Bagel franchise units in the Harrisburg, PA market under an agreement with an existing Chesapeake Bagel Factory franchisee. The company completed its acquisition of the 77-store Chesapeake Bagel Bakery franchise system from Atlanta-based AFC Enterprises last August. They currently franchise, license or own stores under its four brands in 28 states and Washington, D.C.

Circle K (602-728-8000) plans to reopen 39 Mobil on the Run convenience stores under their name. After the Exxon-Mobil merger, Tosco bought 1,740 ExxonMobil stations. The Mobil brand will be retained for the gas stations at 39 existing Tosco-owned combinations in PA, VA and NJ.

 

Rent-A-Center, Inc. (972-801-1205) plans to add 100 to 150 stores this year. The company has refinanced a portion of its existing bank credit facility to develop a growth strategy of purchasing 28 stores in three transactions during the second quarter of 2000. Of these stores, 16 were purchased in Maine, a state where the company previously had no presence.

 

Oil Can Henry’s (714-939-2202) plans to build a three-bay auto lube and oil service shop in West Eugene, OR. The 1,680 sq.ft. service center is expected to open at the Barger Crossing and may also include a drive-up coffee stand.

 

Linens ‘n Things (973-778-1300) plans to open a location in Tampa, FL in Highwoods Preserve as part of its nationwide expansion. The company currently has about 240 stores in 40 states.

 

Dollar Tree Stores Inc. (757-321-5000) expanded from its 3,750 sq.ft. location to a 10,000 site in the Coldwater Crossing center in Fort Wayne, IN.

 

The Right Start (818-707-7100) opened its first location in the Houston, TX market during July. The upscale specialty store for infant, toddler and child development products will occupy 2,478 sq.ft. at the northeast corner of FM 1960 and Champions Forest Drive. Plans call for two additional openings in the Houston area in the coming two months.

 

National Book Warehouse (865-558-8187) recently opened three stores, one each located at Flatwoods Factory Outler in Sutton, WV; Prime Outlets at Lebanon in Lebanon, TN; and Centralia Factory Outlets in Centralia, WA. The openings bring the company’s total to six stores opened during 2000.

 

Target (612-304-6099) opened four SuperTargets in TX last month, one each in Hurst, Watauga, Plano and Frisco. Plans call for four additional SuperTarget openings in the coming year, one each in Fort Worth, Dallas, Arlington and Euless.
