Developers Diversified Realty plans to open University Town Center, a 415,000 sq.ft. power center at the southwest quadrant of State Routes 43 and 261 in Kent, OH by 2001. When complete, the complex will consist of eight anchors, specialty shops and restaurants. The company also joined David Berndt Interests in purchasing a 93-acre parcel at the intersection of Loop 1604 and Bandera Road in San Antonio, TX. The companies plan to develop Bandera Pointe, a 650,000 sq.ft. power center slated to open during Spring 2001. Forest City Enterprises plans to develop Short Pump Town Center mall on a 147-acre tract in Henrico, MD. The project, which has attracted interest from retailers including Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Hechts and Dillards, would likely open during 2002. Harrison & Grass, LLC recently broke ground on the Colonnade, a 550,000 sq.ft. power center in State College, PA. The shopping center is anchored by a 126,000 sq.ft. Target, and a 110,000 sq.ft. Wegmans Supermarket. Co-anchors include a 32,000 sq.ft. Circuit City, a 30,000 sq.ft. Dicks Sporting Goods, a 25,000 sq.ft. Michaels and a 20,000 sq.ft. PETsMART. Target has purchased the land for its site and will construct its own store. Colonnade is slated to open during Fall 2000. The Ainbinder Company recently broke ground on Phase I construction of Pointe West, a 200,000 sq.ft. shopping center at the southeast corner of Interstate 10 and Mason Road in west Houston, TX. The shopping center will be anchored by a 105,000 sq.ft. Big Kmart. Phase II construction will begin later this year. New Regional Corp. is the exclusive leasing agent for Pointe West. The company represented Metro National Corp. in the sale of the property to The Ainbinder Company. Levinson & Associates is designing the project and Southwest Bank of TX is providing the construction financing, while EMJ Corporation is the general contractor. In addition to Pointe West, The Ainbinder Company is developing several shopping centers including a 100,000 sq.ft. specialty center in Houston, TX anchored by Borders Books and Music, two centers anchored by HEB Pantry and Kroger, and a 25,000 sq.ft. specialty center also in Houston. Wolfson Verrichia Group, Inc. is developing Eddystone Commons, a 300,000 sq.ft. shopping center anchored by Wal*Mart at Chester Pike and Simpson Avenue in Delaware County, PA. The company will break ground on Sadsbury Commons, a 390,000 sq.ft. shopping center anchored by Wal*Mart at the intersection of Routes 10 and 30 in Chester County, PA during Summer of this year. Space totaling 75,000 sq.ft. in addition to five outparcels is available; the company plans to open Almonesson Crossings, a 202,500 sq.ft. shopping center anchored by Wal*Mart and Staples at the intersection of Route 41 and Deptford Center Road in Gloucester County, NJ during Spring 2001. Other tenants include Pep Boys and a housewares store. Space totaling 12,000 sq.ft. is available; the company plans to open Oxford Commons, a 370,000 sq.ft. shopping center anchored by Wal*Mart at the intersection of Routes one and 10 in Chester County, PA during Fall of 2001. Other tenants include a junior department store, a cinema and a hardware store. Space totaling 60,000 sq.ft. in additional to six outparcels are available; the company plans to open Marlborough Commons, a 150,000 sq.ft. shopping center at the intersection of Routes One and the Route One bypass in Chester County, PA during Fall 2001. All spaces are available, as is one outparcel; and the company plans to open Solebury Commons, a 100,000 sq.ft. shopping center at the intersection of Routes 202 and 179 in Bucks County, PA during Fall 2002. Stafford Properties Inc. recently broke ground on a 250,000 sq.ft. Target-anchored shopping center in Bluffton, SC. A 100-room Holiday Inn is planned for the project as well, which is scheduled to open during Fall 2000. Trammell Crow Co. is in negotiations to develop a shopping center on a 310-acre parcel in northern York county, VA. The company would prefer to develop the entire site, but an agreement to do so has not yet been reached with the lands owner, Richard Wilkinson. Ezralow Realty Properties plans to break ground on The Crossings at Huntingdon, a 700,000 sq.ft. entertainment center at the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach, CA during September 2000. The project will include a 5,000 seat movie theater as an anchor. Five-mile demographics reveal a population of 557,000 earning $92,000 as the average income. The daily traffic count is 440,000 cars. Universal Properties Group is developing The Centre of New England at the intersection of Interstate 95 and New London Turnpike in Coventry, RI. The 1.4-million sq.ft. enclosed mall will be constructed in three phases. Current tenants for phase I, which is slated to open during Summer 2001, include BJs Wholesale Club, Starbucks, Amerisuites Hotel, Applebees, Wendys, Dennys and Cracker Barrel. The mall will have one mile of highway frontage and the trade area draws eleven million tourists a year. The daily traffic count is 120,000 cars. Swank & Associates, in a joint venture with Cedar Creek Crossing, LLC, opened Cedar Creek Crossing, a 72,000 sq.ft. center located at the intersection of Troy Drive and Cedar Creek in Fayetteville, NC. The shopping center is anchored by Winn-Dixie. Other tenants include an 8,000 sq.ft. Dollar General and a 4,200 sq.ft. Video Wiz; the company, in a joint venture with BBS Associates, plans to open Brightleaf Commons, a 40,800 sq.ft. shopping center on South Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield, NC. The shopping center is anchored by a 33,000 sq.ft. Food Lion. Other tenants include a 3,685 sq.ft. Video Wiz and a 1,335 sq.ft. #1 Chinese Restaurant. A Spring 2000 opening is planned; the company, in a joint venture with Ivey/Swain Associates, plans to develop Southeast Plaza, a 60,000 sq.ft. shopping center at the intersection of Highways 70 and 111 in Goldsboro, NC.
