New ConstructionWeingarten Realty Investors is developing the 278,000 sq.ft. Manhattan Place in Harvey, LA. The center will be anchored by a 125,000 sq.ft. Target store and is located at the intersection of Manhattan and Gretna Boulevards. The center will have spaces for two junior department stores, five pads sites and over 65,000 sq.ft. designated for restaurants, specialty and service retailers. Crescent Resources LLC acquired the 300-acre Potomac Yard site from Commonwealth Atlantic Properties, Inc. and will develop two mixed-use projects on the properties in Alexandria and Arlington County, VA. The 1.9-acre Alexandria portion will be developed into a town center including 135,000 sq.ft. of retail space. The 2.8-acre County of Arlington parcel will include 100,000 sq.ft. of retail space. The spaces will be geared toward neighborhood retailers. The 600,000 sq.ft. Potomac Yard Retail Center was not included in the deal. Lincoln Property Company is developing the Pavilion of Preston Center at the site of the former 230,000 sq.ft. Sanger Harris department store in Dallas, TX. The project is 80% pre-leased and will include apparel, sporting goods, electronics and soft-goods retailers, as well as several restaurants. Catellus Development Corporation has reached an agreement with the City of Alameda that will allow the company to redevelop the 215-acre former Alameda Fleet Industrial Supply Center in Alameda, CA. The site is located directly across the bay from San Francisco and is planned to host over 1.3 million sq.ft. of commercial space and up to 600 residential units. The site will include retail along a waterfront public promenade and a site for a school. Atkinson Property & Investment is among the companies working to develop a 700,000 sq.ft. center located on Southeast 29th Street across Interstate 40 from Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, OK. Zerby Interests is developing Westgate Marketplace, a multi-phase power center located just off Interstate 40 in Oklahoma City, OK. The first phase will include 93,000 sq.ft. of retail space with Ross Dress for Less, Petsmart, Shoe Carnival, Paper Warehouse and Fashion Bug as tenants. A portion of a 5,000 sq.ft. pad building has been leased to Payless Shoes. The center will be located near the Wal*Mart and Office Depot developments that also include McDonalds, Taco Cabana and Applebees restaurants. The 100,000 sq.ft. second phase will begin this summer with a a spring 2002 opening scheduled. Phase three will encompass 125,000 sq.ft. and phase four 100,000 sq.ft.
