Noble Roman’s Inc. (317-634-3377) opened a 1 200 sq.ft. restaurant adjacent to the US Airlines ticketing counter in the Indianapolis International Airport in Indianapolis IN. The new prototype features the same menu as other locations but with a Tuscany-style appearance. The company expects franchise stores to open soon in other non-mall environments; including an Isuzu manufacturing plant in Lafayette IN a Radisson Hotel in Los Angeles CA the international airport in Charlotte NC and a U.S. Navy base in Gulfport MS. The company operates 820 franchises in 42 states.

Apple Computers Inc. (408-996-1010) will open stores in Woodcliff Lake NJ; Albany and Buffalo NY; Chandler AZ; Clarendon VA; Miami Tampa and Wellington Green FL; Peabody and Cambridge MA; Palo Alto and Newport Beach CA; Germantown TN; West Hartford CT; Columbus OH; Bloomington MN; Schaumburg IL and Plano TX. The stores are opening now through the fall. The company plans 25 stores total by the end of 2001.

KFC (502-874-8300) will open a 2 676 sq.ft. location as an outlot to Fresh Fields in Norfolk VA. The site is located on Little Creek Road at the site of the former Wards Corner Beauty Academy and is scheduled to be completed in September. Advantis Real Estate Services Company and the Shopping Center Group cobrokered the ground lease of 34 800 sq.ft.

Panera Bread (202-730-2000) inked an agreement with The Cain Group to open 10 locations in northwest Houston TX. The first unit will open by June 2002 and the expansion will focus on Montgomery Harris and Fort Bend counties. Panera operates 285 bakery-cafes in 29 states.

Wireless Toyz (734-482-8000) has planned a franchise expansion into 31 states by the end of the year. The company hopes to open 25 stores by December 2002 and 250 stores nationwide by the end of 2005. The company currently owns and operates 12 stores throughout MI.

Weis Supermarkets (570-286-4571) will open a 54 780 sq.ft. store at the site of the chain’s existing location on Lowther Road in Camp Hill PA. The current location will remain open until the first quarter of 2002 when it will be razed for the new store scheduled to open in spring 2002. The company operates 158 stores in MD NJ NY PA and VA.

Krispy Kreme (336-725-2981) opened a location on North Blackstone Avenue in Fresno CA. The store is a franchise operated by Golden Gate Doughnuts LLC which plans to open units in Daly City Pittsburg San Jose and Elk Grove. The franchisee has six units operating. Krispy Kreme operates over 185 units nationwide.

Skipper’s Inc. (425-670-3393) opened eight locations and has plans for at least two more. The seafood restaurant chain opened units in Auburn WA; Longview WA; Lynnwood WA; Spokane WA; Port Angeles WA; Orem UT and Salem OR. The company plans to open in Boise ID and Salt Lake City UT as well. The company plans to continue to grow in WA and OR. The chain operates 79 restaurants in AK ID MT OR UT and WA.

The Stride Rite Corporation (617-824-6000) opened two Keds’ locations in the Atlanta GA market. The company plans six more stores for the concept before the end of the year. The company operates over 320 stores under multiple banners.

Frisch’s Restaurants Inc. (513-961-2660) plans to develop 30 Golden Corral restaurants by 2007 in the Cincinnati OH; Dayton OH; Louisville KY; Cleveland OH and Toledo OH markets. The company operates 133 restaurants under the names Golden Corral and Frisch’s Big Boy throughout IN KY and OH.

Health Express USA (954-776-5401) will open franchises nationwide for its Healthy Bites Grill with the assistance of Francorp Inc. The company operates two locations in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton FL.

The Millenium Group (407-482-6500) will open a Stump’s Supper Club restaurant and a Howl at the Moon location at the Channelside district in Tampa FL. Stump’s Supper Club offers large southern-style portions and retro-decor while Howl at the Moon bills itself as the world’s greatest dueling piano bar.

Tommy Hilfiger (201-866-9339) plans to open 10 outlet stores and 25 specialty retail stores by the end of March 2002. The fashion designer and retailer operates 94 outlets and 11 specialty stores nationwide.

Hennes & Mauritz (212-489-8777) may open an H&M store at the intersection of West 34th Street and Seventh Avenue in New York NY. It is the apparel retailer’s second store on West 34th Street. The company operates 21 stores in NY CT NJ and MA.

The Limited (614-479-7000) may open two stores in the former HMV Music store at Herald Sqaure in New York NY. The site is located at the intersection of Broadway and West 34th Street and the Bath &Body Works and Victoria’s Secret concepts are rumored to be placed in the building.
