Closings CBRL Group Inc. (615-444-5533) will close four Cracker Barrel units three Logan’s Roadhouse restaurants and exit its Carmine Giardini’s Gourmet market business. Entringer Bakeries Inc (504-944-8771) has closed the last of 22 remaining McKenzie’s Pastry Shops. The company filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in May and closed nearly half its units at that time. The company will now convert to Chapter 7 status. Krause’s Furniture Inc. (909-418-2240) will close 32 stores under a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. The company already has closed 11 stores but has arranged debtor-in-possession financing and will continue to operate the remaining 57 showrooms and factory and will be able to fill existing and new orders. Albertson’s (817-568-3858) will close 165 stores in 25 states in an attempt to balance operating costs after the 1999 acquisition of American Stores which brought Albertson’s holdings to 2 500 units. Drug stores will comprise 25 percent of closures. The company operates under the Osco Drug Sav-On Drug Store Acme Markets Jewel Food Stores Seessel’s Super Saver and Max banners. |
