Caliber Collision Center (949-809-7061) plans to acquire locations in its existing markets and explore opportunities in other markets. The company operates 62 collision repair facilities in CA and TX.

Dunkin’ Donuts (877-833-2633) plans to open 13 stores in the Charlotte NC area by the end of 2002. The new stores called trombos will feature the company’s donuts Togo’s Great Sandwiches and Baskin-Robbins ice cream concepts rolled into one building. Dunkin’ Donuts operates more than 5 000 units in the U.S.

Dave & Buster’s (214-357-9588) plans to open a location in Cleveland OH by year’s end. The company which currently operates 30 locations throughout the U.S. opened new units in Miami FL and Frisco TX earlier this year. Four additional locations are planned for 2002.

California Pizza Kitchen (310-342-5000) plans to open a 5 000 sq.ft. restaurant at the Oxmoor Center in Louisville KY during March 2002. The company operates 83 units in 17 states and Washington DC.

Red Robin (303-846-6000) recently opened a 6 000 sq.ft. location its third in Roseville CA. The chain which operates more than 185 restaurants in 24 states and two in Canada plans to open in Elk Grove Ventura Sunnyvale and Modesto CA next year.

Joe’s Crab Shack (713-850-1010) a division of Landry’s Seafood Restaurant Inc. is proposing a 12 000 sq.ft. location at the Docks at Old Sacramento in Sacramento CA with a September opening slated. The chain will occupy 8 000 sq.ft. under the roof with 4 000 sq.ft. for outdoor seating. The chain operates more than 40 restaurants in the U.S.

IKEA (610-834-0180) is proposing to build a 350 000 sq.ft. store on 45 acres in College Park MD. Construction is expected to commence in Spring 2002. The home furnishings company also recently proposed a 320 000 sq.ft. location in East Palo Alto CA but was denied approval by the town council. IKEA also expects to open a two-level 250 000 sq.ft. store at Assembly Square in Somerville MA. The Somerville location will be its first in New England. IKEA operates 139 stores in 22 countries.

Target (800-440-0680) expects to open a 182 120 sq.ft. Super Target in Lakeville City MN during October 2002 and a 125 000 sq.ft. location in Sherwood OR. The company is also proposing a location in McAllen TX. The average Target store occupies 126 000 sq.ft. and the average Super Target occupies 177 000 sq.ft. The company also plans to open a 125 000 sq.ft. location at the intersection of Route 44 and Lawton Road in Canton CT. The company operates more than 1 300 discount department stores in 46 states.

Oxtails (561-616-7299) expects to open two stores by the end of 2002. The ethnic food chain plans to open five additional locations in the future. Oakland Park Lauderdale and Hollywood FL are among the possible sites.

Jack in the Box Inc. (858-571-2121) recently opened its second restaurant in Hickory NC. The company operates 1 750 units in 16 states.

Academy Sports and Outdoors (281-646-5200) expects to open a 68 000 sq.ft. store its first in Round Rock TX. The sporting goods retailer currently operates more than 50 stores in seven states.

Saks (301-657-9000) plans to open an 80 000 sq.ft. Saks Fifth Avenue store at an open-air center in Richmond VA during fall 2003. The Stony Point Fashion Park location will complement the company’s existing Saks Fifth Avenue store at Tyson’s Corner in Washington DC.

Tutor Time Learning Systems Inc. (888-678-4631) plans to open six metropolitan Chicago-area locations by summer 2002. Each 10 486 sq.ft. facility can accommodate 182 children. The company currently operates 225 learning centers in 25 states and has plans for nearly 100 more.

Lowe’s (336-659-0180) plans to open four locations in CA – Livermore Union City Hercules and Antioch – next year. The stores are part of a nationwide expansion that includes 18 openings in CA that will range in size from 135 000 sq.ft. to 150 000 sq.ft. The company operates more than 700 stores in 40 states.

Gander Mountain (412-653-7300) recently opened two locations in Pittsburgh PA. The sporting goods stores typically offer 31 000 sq.ft. of hunting camping and fishing equipment. The company which currently operates 53 stores in MN IA IL MI and OH expects to open several stores in the Pittsburgh area.

Pizza Haven (425-497-9995) plans to open up to 20 locations over five years in the Puget Sound WA region beginning in Redmond WA. The company which once operated 41 locations in WA and one in ID emerged from a 1999 Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Ultimate Electronics (303-412-2500) will open locations in Phoenix AZ and St. Louis MO this month and a store in Dallas TX next year. The home entertainment and consumer electronics company currently operates 41 stores in the western and southwestern U.S. Its stores range in size from 9 300 sq.ft. to 52 000 sq.ft.

Frisch’s Restaurants Inc. (513-961-2660) recently opened two Big Boy restaurants in OH and two Golden Corral restaurants in Greater Cincinnati OH. The company operates 87 family-style restaurants in IN KY and OH. It also operates 12 Golden Corral restaurants in greater Cincinnati and Dayton OH and Louisville KY with plans to develop 29 more restaurants through 2007 in the OH and KY markets.

Walgreen Co. (847-914-2500) plans to open two stores in OR next year one in Albany next summer and one in Newberg in the fall. The company is also proposing to open a store to anchor the Dunwoody Village shopping center in Atlanta GA. Walgreens will be joined in the center by Fresh Market Inc. a 20 000 sq.ft. gourmet grocery store. The pharmacy chain which operates 3 547 stores in the U.S. plans to open 475 locations in 2002.

Panera Bread Co. (314-633-7100) expects to open a location in Oak Ridge TN during January. The company operates more than 300 bakery/cafes in 30 states and is moving toward its goal of operating more than 500 units nationwide.

Raley’s Inc. (916-373-3333) recently opened its first Well for Life Center in a remodeled Raley’s store in Turlock CA. The center includes an event room for health and nutrition-related classes. The supermarket chain operates 149 stores in CA NV and NM and has plans to open 10 Well for Life Centers.

R/C Theatres (410-526-4774) expects to open a theater at the 200 000 sq.ft. Westview Promenade in Frederick MD by summer or fall 2002. The 16-screen stadium-style movie complex will join McDonald’s TGI Friday’s and Starbucks. The company operates 21 theaters and 124 screens in MD VA PA NC and FL.

Sam’s Club (888-746-7726) is proposing to open a 134 255 sq.ft. wholesale club at Lakeland Highland Road and the Polk Parkway in Lakeland FL across from Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse. The company operates more than 490 wholesale clubs.

Krispy Kreme (336-725-2981) will open a 2 800 sq.ft. location next year at the Mall of America in Bloomington MN. The chain operates 196 locations nationwide.

Staters Bros. Markets (909-783-5002) expects to open a 43 235 sq.ft. location at Chino Hills Parkway and Grand Avenue in Chino Hills CA during spring 2002. The company operates 155 supermarkets including 47 in San Bernardino County 30 in Orange County 27 in Los Angeles County 10 in Northern San Diego and two in Kern County CA.

Paul Harris Stores Inc. (317-293-3900) opened a location in Carmel IN its first since filing for bankruptcy more than a year ago. The women’s specialty store is the first of 10 locations the company plans to open in IN during the next several months. Leases have been signed for stores at the Indiana Factory Shops in Daleville and in Kokomo IN. The company is also looking for sites in Plainfield and Avon IN. Paul Harris plans to operate 250 stores in IN MD and FL by 2006.

Applebee’s International (913-967-4173) expects to open more than 100 locations in 2002 including 25 company restaurants and 80 to 90 franchise restaurants. The company operates 1 358 restaurants nationwide 1 060 of which are franchised.

Barnes & Noble Inc. (212-633-3300) expects to open a 30 000 sq.ft. superstore at the Prudential Center located at 800 Boylston Street in Boston MA in June 2002. The company operates 569 Barnes & Noble and 331 B. Dalton bookstores nationwide. It also operates 990 Gamestop locations which sell video game and entertainment software.
