ClosingsJC Penney (972-431-1000) will close at Citadel Mall in West Ashley, SC. The 122,000 sq.ft. space will become part of a larger Target store.
Duke & Long Distributing Co. (800-209-5432) will close at least 62 convenience stores as part of their bankruptcy reorganization. The company is owned by Devon Convenience Holdings Inc. which operates 256 units in eight states. The locations closing have been only partially announced and include nine stores in Paducah, KY; three in Murray, KY; two in Benton, KY; and the locations in Calvert City, Eddyville, Mayfield and Boaz, KY. Also listed were 10 units in IL, three in OH and one in AL.
Marketplace Holdings, Inc. (804-272-6663) trading as Rack & Sack, closed two stores in suburban Richmond, VA. The locations on West Broad Street in Henrico County, VA and on Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County closed. The company will focus more on its more urban Community Pride stores.
G&G Retail (212-279-4961) plans on closing 10 stores in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2001. The company closed nine units combined in the first three quarters.
Kinkos (805-652-4000) closed its Belmont Shore, CA location citing lack of business. The other two stores in the Long Beach area will remain open.
