New ConstructionVestar is one of four development teams that made presentations to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors challenging for the rights to build up 257 acres of county-owned land along the San Diego River in Santee, CA. The land, adjacent to a womens detention facility and a mental hospital, is zoned for high-tech development but other uses are not precluded according to city officials. Dominicks broke ground for a 65,000 sq.ft. store at the 400,000 sq.ft. Fox Lake Commons Shopping Center in Fox Lake, IL. Starbucks Coffee and Bank One will also tenant phase one of the center located at Routes 12 and 134. A 120,000 sq.ft. retail space and a 30,000 sq.ft. nursery area are available. RED Capital Development will begin construction on the Zona Rosa project in Kansas City, MO. The City Council will finance $15.2 million in improvements for the intersection of Interstate 29 and Barry Road. The 200,000 sq.ft. mixed-use center will be built in phases over the next ten years. The area demographics include a population count of 29,244 within a five-minute drive time earning $56,501 as the average household income. The company is also developing a 420,000 sq.ft. center in Madison, WI. Van Maur has signed on to anchor the center located on the western edge of Lake Mendota. Turnberry Associates is developing the adjacent land to its Aventura Mall in Miami, FL for a 225,000 sq.ft. center named Aventura Crossing. The 16.35 acre plot is currently a mobile home park but is under contract to be sold to Araphahoe Investment Company for $9.2 million. Potential tenants include the Container Store, Mikasa, Nordstrom Rack and Crate & Barrel. Cuddeback West, LLC will build a 149,000 sq.ft. freestanding discount store on 22.6 acres at West 11th Avenue and Belt Line Road in Eugene, OR. The plan submitted for approval includes room for a 75,000 sq.ft. expansion to the initial structure. Environmental Community Development broke ground on phase two of CityPark in Lincolnshire, IL. The $30 million project includes 75,000 sq.ft. of retail space and 2,600 parking spaces. The mixed-use developments first phase included Regal Cinemas, Hampton Inn & Suites, Wildfire and Big Bowl as tenants. The site is one mile from both Interstate 95 and 395 interchanges and shares a signal with a Target being built on Route 85. Triangle Equities broke ground on the Brookville Center in Queens, NY. The 200,000 sq.ft. power center is located on Rockaway Boulevard and Brookville Boulevard.
