Yard House Restaurants (562-437-2337) will open its fourth restaurant at The River at Rancho Mirage in Rancho Mirage, CA. The lifestyle center is under construction and located at the intersection of Bob Hope Drive and Highway 111 near Palm Springs, CA.
Linens N Things (630-571-5692) plans 60 to 65 openings in 2001. The company has stores scheduled to open in the first quarter in Florence, AL; Folsom, CA; Knoxville, TN; Roswell, GA; Devon, PA and Woodbridge, ONT, Canada. The company operates 283 stores in 40 states and three provinces of Canada.
Winn-Dixie (904-783-5000) plans to open or acquire 95 additional stores by the end of fiscal 2001. The company operates 1,089 units nationwide.
Eateries, Inc. (405-705-5000) trading as Garfields Restaurant & Pub, Garcias Mexican Restaurant, and Pepperoni Grill has signed agreements to open 27 franchised units. The openings will take place in Tampa, FL (12), NE (10) and IN (5).
CVS Pharmacy (401-765-1500) plans to open 200 locations in the Chicago, IL market in the next five years. The company will also open in the Las Vegas, NV and Phoenix, AZ markets by 2002. The company operates 4,100 stores nationwide.
Home Depot (770-433-8211) will open two 133,000 sq.ft. stores in the Omaha, NE market. The first will be located at 72nd Street and Ames Avenue and the second will be located at the Lake Manawa Power Centre near Interstates 80 and 29. The company is looking for three more sites in the market to begin construction within two years.
Cinnabon (770-391-9500) has signed franchise agreements to open 47 stores. Morrison Management will put 20 of the bakeries in its hospitals nationwide. LFG Group has agreed to open 12 locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area. MUSA-KHAN, Inc. has signed on to open five bakeries in RI and CT. LaTrelles Management Corporation has agreed to open six in the Austin and San Antonio, TX markets and GUL Franchise Owners Inc. will open four units in the Bakersfield, CA market. Target (612-304-6099) will open a 130,000 sq.ft. store on a 14.4-acre parcel in Meriden, CT. The unit is scheduled to open in summer 2001. The company operates 977 stores in 46 states.
Borders Books & Music (734-477-1100) will open a 22,077 sq.ft. store at the Marketplace at Hilltop in Virginia Beach, VA. The unit will be the companys first in the Virginia Beach, VA area and is scheduled to open in May 2001. The company operates more than 335 locations nationwide and in Puerto Rico and plans to open between 25 to 30 stores in 2001.
Nebraska Furniture Mart (402-397-6100) may be part of a 400-acre destination retailer development near the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, KS. The speedway will open this summer and host NASCAR events.
Cost Plus World Market (510-893-7300) will open a 20,000 sq.ft. store at the site of the former Strouds store in Santa Barbara, CA. The department store chain has a six-year lease on the building with a 10-year option and operates 127 stores in 19 states. The company plans 30 openings in 2001.
Longs Drug Stores (925-210-6763) will open a store in Rocklin, CA. The store may not be granted a liquor license because of its proximity to two Placer County schools. The company operates 425 stores in six Western states.
Ikea (610-878-2220) will not pursue a 308,000 sq.ft. megastore in New Rochelle, NY because of concerns raised by neighbors. The project would have forced homeowners and businesses to move off of the 15-acre site. The company operates 168 stores nationwide.
Fleming Companies (405-858-5963) will open the first locations of a miniwarehouse concept called Yes!Less in the Dallas, TX market. The stores will occupy spaces of 18,000 sq.ft. and offer the 2,000 most popular grocery items along with general merchandise and special limited supply offers.
Panera Bread Company (314-918-7779) will open on Church Street in Orlando, FL. The store will located below the Hooters Restaurant and will feature an outdoor dining area.
U.S. Factory Outlets (212-563-3650) will open a 43,000 sq.ft. store at Belmont Plaza Shopping Center in Youngstown, OH and a 34,000 sq.ft. store at Northland Plaza Shopping Center in Lima, OH. The company operates 29 stores nationwide.
Pier One (817-878-8000) will acquire childrens furniture retailer Cargo Furniture from Tandycrafts, Inc. The company will assume operations at its 21 locations and plans a 200 to 300 unit rollout nationwide over the next decade. Cargo Furniture has stores in the Fort Worth/Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Atlanta, GA and Washington, DC markets.
Charlotte Russe (310-540-6191) will open a 6,356 sq.ft. store at Sunrise Mall in Massapequa, NY. The womens apparel chain operates 107 stores nationwide. Also opening at the center will be Finish Line, GNC Live Well, The Remington Store, City Source and Avi Collection.
Dillards (501-376-5200) will open a 62,000 sq.ft. store featuring its mens and home furnishing departments that will support its new 100,000 sq.ft. full-line store at Rimrock Mall in Billings, MT. The site is a former J.C. Penney, which moved its store to the former Dillards location.
Taubman Centers (248-258-7367) announced the first 100 stores at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano, TX. The 1.5 million sq.ft. center will be anchored by Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor, Foleys and Dillards. Saks Fifth Avenue will open in 2004. The following stores will be opening its first Dallas area location at Willow Bend: Armani Collezioni, Bruno Magli, Bisou Bisou, Charles Jourdan Paris, Chiasso, Diesel, Hugo/Hugo Boss, Kabana, Lalique, Nicole Miller, Stuart Weitzman and Swarovski. Restaurants Todai and Napa Valley Grille will also be making debuts in the Metroplex.
Famous Daves of America (952-294-1300) will open a 6,000 sq.ft. location at Lakeside Plaza in Omaha, NE. The bar-b-que centered chain operates 43 units in MN, WI, IL, IA, MD, NE, VA and UT.
Coach Inc. (212-629-2207) will open a flagship store on the "Magnificent Mile" of North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, IL. The 4,200 sq.ft. store will be across form the Nordstrom development.
Wal*Mart (501-273-4000) may build three stores in the Olympia, WA area. Brokers have reportedly contacted city officials in Lacey, WA about the zoning of two different sites. One site is located in the Hawks Prairie area near Interstate 5 and the other is on Yelm Highway in south Lacey. The company will not open in Overland Park, KS. The city council rejected the companys proposal to build at 156th Street and Metcalf Avenue.
