ClosingsGart Sports (303-861-1122) will close its 12,000 sq.ft. Twin Peaks Mall location in Longmont, CO. The company is building a 30,000 sq.ft. unit at the intersection of Diagonal and Hoover Streets that will replace the closed location. Gart Sports operates 120 stores.
Hit or Miss, care of DJM Asset Management (516-752-1100) will close all 134 of its remaining stores. The company has been in bankruptcy protection since late 2000.
Gateway, Inc. (605-232-2000) will close kiosks inside of Office Max stores and will look at closing other locations. The company operates 320 units and has scrapped expansion plans that had included 90 new stores by the end of 2001.
The Limited, Inc. (614-479-7000) will close more than 1,000 under-performing stores. The company plans to merge it Structure concept into the Express brand as Express Men’s and is actively seeking a buyer for the Lane Bryant concept.
