Edens & Avant is developing the 63,000 sq.ft. Whiteville Town Centre in Whiteville, NC. The center is located at the intersection of Highway 701-Bypass and Love Mill Road and will be anchored by a 38,000 sq.ft. Food Lion. Other tenants include Hibbett Sports, On Cue, Fashion Cents and Dominos Pizza. Three adjacent parcels of land are available for future development.

Starwood Wasserman, LLC is developing the 611,500 sq.ft. Kaufmann’s on the Heights in University Heights, OH. The vertical power center will be anchored by a 165,000 sq.ft. Kaufmann’s Department Store, a 165,000 sq.ft. national general merchandise retailer and a 58,000 sq.ft. Tops Supermarket. The additional space on the 12-acre site is available for retailers and restaurants. The Kaufmann’s store is scheduled to open March 2002, with the remainder of the center to open spring 2003.

Trammell Crow Company is developing a 700,000 sq.ft. power center on the site of the former Tower Mall in Portsmouth, VA. The center will be anchored by Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse.

Southeastern Realty Group is developing the 74,000 sq.ft. Palmetto Pavilion in North Charleston, SC. The site is located at the signalized intersection of Ashley Phosphate and Dorchester Roads and will be anchored by Publix Supermarkets. The mixed-use center has three outlots available as well as in-line spaces from 1,000 sq.ft. to 9,600 sq.ft. with a delivery date of April 2002. Colliers International and Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company are developing the DuPont Station project in the Northwest Landing area of Tacoma, WA. The project will be grocery anchored but the size has yet to be finalized. The 32-acre site is located just off of Interstate 5 and will also include a park, townhouses and possibly a Sound Transit light rail station.

The Widewaters Group is developing the 185,000 sq.ft. Target Center in Ithaca, NY. The center will be anchored by Target and is located at the intersection of Sandbank Road and Route 13. The site is located near the Pyramid Mall, Triphammer Mall and The Commons and is scheduled to open in March 2002. The center has 63,000 sq.ft. available and is able to subdivide. Vons Supermarkets is looking for government assistance in developing a $14.4 million mixed-use center in Long Beach, CA. The five-acre complex would include a 55,000 sq.ft. supermarket and is located between Broadway and First Street and Atlantic and Alamitos Avenues. The store would replace the existing store at Broadway and Atlantic Avenue. The company is seeking $5 million from city redevelopment officials to help cover property acquisition and tenant relocation costs.

The Jaffe Companies and Mid-America Real Estate Group are developing the 400,000 sq.ft. Orchard Grove in Aurora, IL. The 45-acre site is located at the intersection of Orchard and Indian Trails Roads and will include Meijers and Home Depot. Home Depot opened in the first quarter of 2001 and inline space will be built with the 200,000 sq.ft. Meijers store.

Shea Properties is developing the 130,000 sq.ft. Shops at Waterford in the $100 million Waterford mixed-use project in Aliso Vielo, CA. The center will be anchored by a 52,000 sq.ft. Safeway and will feature public plazas and outdoor dining areas. The Safeway is set to open in November and the rest of the project is scheduled to open in the first half of 2002.

Pacific Development Group and CB Richard Ellis are developing the 1 million sq.ft. of retail space at the 434-acre master planned Colonies at San Antonio in Upland, CA. Current plans call for a major general merchandiser, home improvement, grocery and a drug store, as well as specialty retail spaces. The project is located at the intersection of Campus Avenue and Interstate 210 freeway extension. Area demographics include a population of 267,000 residing in a five-mile radius and those in a one-mile radius have an average annual household income of over $100,000.

Hagan Seay Properties is expanding the Shelbyville Road Plaza in Louisville, KY. The project is undergoing renovation and will include 365,000 sq.ft. when completed this summer. The center will be anchored by Circuit City, Wild Oats Market, Linens ‘N Things, Honey Baked Hams, Hawley-Cooke Booksellers and Coconuts Music & Video. The company is also redeveloping the 325,000 sq.ft. Middletown Station in Louisville, KY. The center was formerly anchored by a Biggs Hypermarket and is located immediately west of Interstate 265. Twelve outlots are available and completion of the main building is scheduled for mid-2002.
