Butler Enterprises is developing an expansion on the north side of the existing Butler Plaza Power Center. The site is located at the intersection State Route 24 and Archer Road near Interstate 75. The center has a total GLA of over 1.1 million sq.ft. comprised of three plazas. The proposed expansion would double the center’s GLA and have three superstore anchor sites with inline space as well as numerous restaurant and corner outparcels available. Anchor tenants include Wal*Mart Lowe’s Target Albertsons Best Buy PetsMart Goody’s Family Clothing Publix and a 14-screen Regal Cinemas. Area retail includes the Oaks Mall. Area demographics include a population of 121 527 residing in a five-mile radius earning an average annual household income of $44 847. The site has an average daily traffic count of 54 000 cars.

Malcolm Riley & Associates and Carver Companies are developing the 700 000 sq.ft. Desert Gateway Shopping Center in Palm Desert CA. The project is situated on 70 acres located at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Dinah Shore Drive. The center will be anchored by a 148 759 sq.ft. Wal*Mart Supercenter and a 153 000 sq.ft. Sam’s Club. The project will include 350 000 sq.ft. of non-anchor retail space. Area retailers include Costco Home Depot Resort Theatre House2Home PetsMart and Linens N Things. The site has an average daily traffic count of 73 000 cars. The project is scheduled to open in spring 2003.

Frederick Ross Company is developing the Shops at Riverbend in Littleton CO. The site is located at the intersection of South Santa Fe and Prince Streets and tenants will include Panda Express Peaberry Coffee Baja Fresh and Subway. The upscale center featuring a breezeway and Victorian fountains is scheduled to open in February 2002. Area demographics include a population of 272 456 residing in a five-mile radius earning an average annual household income of $65 685. The average daily traffic count is 55 000 cars. Spaces of 2 590 sq.ft. 2 209 sq.ft. and two spaces of 1 260 sq.ft. are available.

R.J. Waters & Associates Inc. is developing two centers in Chester County PA. Both will be anchored by Giant Food Stores Inc. and will also be tenanted by CVS Pharmacy. The Shoppes at Dilworth Crossing is a 121 263 sq.ft. center located at the intersection of Route 202 and Dilworthtown Road in West Chester PA. The project will also be tenanted by Bennigans Hallmark Cards Frankford Cleaners Kings Island Chinese/Japanese Restaurant Cafe Napoli Dairy Queen Wine & Spirits Shoppe Textures by Wilcoxx GNC and National Penn Bank. The Shoppes at Jenners Village is located at the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Route 796 in Southern Chester County PA. Other tenants include: Blockbuster Frankford Cleaners Hallmark Cards Wine & Spirits Shoppe and Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant. The company is also developing the Lakeview Shopping Centre in Royersford PA. The project is being codeveloped with Reitnour Investment Properties-Limerick LP and is located at the intersection of Route 422 and Township Line Road. Trammell Crow Company is leasing the 380 000 sq.ft. CascadeStation in Portland OR. The project is being developed by MJK Northwest and will be anchored by Nordstrom Rack REI Linens N Things and Pier 1 Imports. The site is located at the intersection of Interstate 205 and Airport Way and is scheduled to open for the holiday season in 2002. Included in the project are Restaurant Row @ CascadeStation and Shops @ CascadeStation a 60 000 sq.ft. specialty center. The project will feature a "Main Street" feel with pedestrian areas and fountains.

Agree Realty Corporation is developing a $3.8 million retail center in Flint MI. The project is pre-leased and is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year. Agree owns 47 properties in 13 states with a total GLA of over 3.6 million sq.ft.

GBT Realty Corporation is leasing the 13-acre site of the former Heritage Square the area’s first Kmart-anchored center in Franklin TN. The site is located at the intersection of Mack Hatcher Parkway and Hillsboro Road and may be complicated by the expansion of Mack Hatcher Parkway. The state is scheduled to announce it choice of eight plans for the corridor in the spring. The project will be called Harpeth Crossing and is likely to include multiple anchors and up to seven outparcels.

Elk Grove Village IL acquired a building at the Rohlweig Grove Shopping Center in Elk Grove Village IL. The project is located at the intersection of Rohlwing Road and Devon Avenue. The village has served an eviction notice to Ringside Sports Club and is negotiating to put Harrisons Brewing Company and an Oberweis Dairy store in the project. The project has had renewed interest after new development in the neighboring Devon Commons Plaza. New businesses are scheduled to open by early spring. The village has contracted with Corrib Construction to do nearly $5 million in improvements on the building by the end of the year.

The Commissioners of Union County amended the land-use plan for two parcels to allow 1.8 million sq.ft. of retail to be developed near Charlotte NC. The commission approved a planners blueprint for a one million sq.ft. development at the intersection of Idlewild Road and Interstate 485. The Stallings Town Council may annex 83 acres 25 of them in neighboring Mecklenburg County that would speed utility coverage to the area. The county commission also approved a land-use change for an 800 000 sq.ft. development located along Providence Road between Waxhaw and Weddington Roads.
