The Irvine Company is developing the 50 000 sq.ft. Newport Ridge Retail Center in Newport Beach CA. The $7.3 million project is situated on 10.82 acres located at the intersection of Newport Coast Drive and San Joaquin Hills Road adjacent to a new Vons market (also developed by the Irvine Company). The center includes three single-level multi-tenant buildings and is scheduled to be completed in February 2002.

Stanberry Development acquired the site of the former English Village Shoppes located on Route 309 in Horsham PA. The site is located on Route 309 and has received letters of intent from Banana Republic Ann Taylor Talbots and Bucks County Coffee Company to tenant the new center. The project is scheduled to open in spring 2003 but has yet to obtain all the needed zoning approvals.

Westview Acquisitions LLC is developing the 200 000 sq.ft. Westview Promenade in Frederick MD. The center will be anchored by R/C Theaters and is located near the intersection of Interstate 70 and State Route 85. The site is located near Francis Scott Key Mall and the first stores are scheduled to open next summer. Pad sites have been pre-leased by McDonald’s Farmers & Mechanics Bank Panda Express and TGI Friday’s. Construction costs are expected to reach $30 million dollars.

BGP Orland LLC a joint venture between Terraco Inc. and Mid-America Real Estate Group will develop a retail project in Orland Park IL. The 3.45-acre site is located at the intersection of 147th Street and LaGrange Road and will be anchored by a 15 120 sq.ft. Walgreens store. The project also includes a 8 700 sq.ft. multi-tenant outlot building designed for food and retail.

Oak Meadows Development Company will develop a mixed-use center across from the WestGlen Shopping Center in Kansas City KS. The project will include two restaurant sites and a fast food unit or a convenience store along with a 20 000 sq.ft. office building. The company developed the WestGlen Shopping Center five years ago.

Coyote Springs Investors LLC wants to develop a master-planned community on 42 800 acres located about 50 miles north of Las Vegas NV. The project will include up to 50 000 homes as well as supporting retail and office space. The site is located east of US Route 93 and north of State Route 168 but may have challenges attaining the necessary water. The firm has spent $33 million in purchasing and designing the initial phases of the project.

The Giunta Group Ltd. is developing a 32 000 sq.ft. project called Village Plaza in Westchase FL. The 7.2 acre site is located west of Westchase Square and will feature retail and office space. The project is partially preleased to an Italian restaurant a florist a pool supply store and an ice cream and cookie shop. The site’s two 7 000 sq.ft. outparcels are still available.

Stiles Corporation is developing the 80 400 sq.ft. Campbell Station Shopping Center in Spring Hill TN. The site is located at Campbell Station Parkway and State Road 31 and will be anchored by a 55 818 sq.ft. Kroger grocery store. The project will include 19 600 sq.ft. of inline space a gas station and two one-acre outparcels. Country Farm Family Buffet will take 5 600 sq.ft. in the center upon completion.

S.R. Weiner & Associates Inc. and W/S Development Associates LLC are developing a 70 000 sq.ft. to 75 000 sq.ft. center adjacent to the Martel School in Lewiston ME. The site is across from the Lewsiton Mall and does not have an announced tenant. The company has been sharing development plans and taking comments from local residents. The company has developed numerous Home Depot and Wal*Mart projects in the past as well as the Maine Mall and the Marketplace at Augusta.

Breslin Realty Development Corp. is developing the 250 000 sq.ft. phase III of the Hub Power Center in Hempstead NY. Phase II was completed by the opening of a 55 000 sq.ft. Stop & Shop supermarket. The center is located on the site of the former Abraham & Straus department store that was demolished to make way for the center that is anchored by a 117 000 sq.ft. Home Depot a 25 000 sq.ft. Old Navy and the newest prototype of Burger King. The center will have a GLA of 550 000 sq.ft. upon completion of phase III.

Wesley & Associates Land Planners LLC is planning a 47 500 sq.ft. retail development located at the intersection of Fulton Street and Grand River Drive Southeast in Ada Township MI. The project will include six buildings of which three will be two-stories. The site does require rezoning but was approved for development in 1994 before the developer ran short of money.

Munafo Seven Inc. will not develop a grocery-anchored strip center at the intersection of Carson Street and South Main Street in Monroe OH. The company withdrew its rezoning application after the City Council requested a planned unit development from the company. Munafo Seven had hoped to break ground October 1st but a planned unit development pushed the timetable back three to four months. The Council designated the site planned unit after Chris Munafo had said that if the city tax abatement was not offered his company would sell the land after it was rezoned.
