Albertson’s Inc. (208-385-6200) is exiting four underperforming markets: Memphis and Nashville, TN and Houston and San Antonio, TX. The closures are part of the company’s restructuring efforts, which began last July. The company has closed 80 stores as part of this plan and expects to close 165 stores by the second quarter of 2002. The supermarket chain operates more than 2,400 locations in 33 states.

Shoe Show, Inc. (888-557-4637) closed the El-Bee shoe store in Logansport, IN. The store recently was acquired by Shoe Show, Inc. following the bankruptcy of Shoebille. The company operates more than 800 stores in 31 states.
