Jones Apparel Group Inc. (215-785-4000) may close 30 to 40 stores this year. The company operates 420 specialty retail stores under the brand names Nine West, Easy Spirit and Enzo Angiolini. The number of closings may decrease depending on offered rent concessions. The company also plans to open 15 to 20 stores this year.

No Frills Supermarket, Inc. (402-399-9244) is closing a 63,000 sq.ft. location at Q Street and Millard Avenue in Omaha, NE. The company operates 10 stores.

Florida Fast Food Services (863-688-9454), Brandon Fast Food Services and Lakeland Fast Food Services, all of which are Burger King franchisees, have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The companies, which have the same owners, operate 14 Burger King restaurants in the Tampa Bay, FL area. The restaurants are expected to remain open while the owners reorganize their finances. More than 11,400 Burger King restaurants operate worldwide, of which 92% are owned by franchisees of Burger King Corp.

The Sweet Factory Group (312-243-2700) plans to close unprofitable Sweet Factory candy stores following the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing last November. The company, a subsidiary of Archibald Candy Corp., plans to close more than half of its 180 stores.

Gap Inc. (949-719-0829) is closing an Old Navy location at 503 Broadway in New York, NY. The company operates more than 4,100 stores worldwide under the trade names Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic.

Christopher & Banks, Inc. (763-551-5000) and Claire’s Stores Inc. (954-433-3900) closed underperforming locations at the Mariner Mall in Superior, WI during March. Christopher & Banks, Inc. closed a Brauns Fashions location and Claire’s Stores Inc. closed a Claire’s boutique location.

Dick Clark Restaurants, Inc. (818-841-3003) is closing a Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Grill location at Keystone at the Crossing on 86th Street in Indianapolis, IN this month. The company operates 11 restaurants in the U.S.

Albertson’s Inc. (208-385-6200) closed nine stores in south TX markets outside of San Antonio, including locations in Laredo, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley. The stores closed during March.
