Closings Dillons Stores Co. (620-665-5511) is closing its Springfield, IL supermarket after two years of operation. The supermarket was underperforming. The company has 110 stores throughout the midwest. Harmony House (877-956-8742) will close all of its stores by the end of year. The record store chain is closing because of slipping sales and the inability to keep up with the Internet era and entertainment superstores.Phar-Mor, Inc. (330-746-6641) is planning to sell its 73 remaining stores because of economic problems. Snyder Drug Stores, Giant Eagle supermarkets and Ozer Group of Boston, GE Capital and Michael S. Dell Capital are expected to bid on the portfolio. Food Lion (704-633-8250) closed its supermarket at 5910 Garners Ferry Road, located next to the Woodhill Mall in Columbia, SC. Food Lion operates 22 stores in the Columbia area, including a store at 7543 Garners Road and 2900 Leesburg Road. Houlihan’s Restaurant Group, Inc. (816-756-2200) will close five Darryl’s Restaurant & Bar locations after a deal to sell its Darryl’s chain fell through. The restaurants are located in Raleigh and Durham, NC; Louisville, KY; Mobile, AL and Norfolk, VA. |
