Dillard’s Inc. (501-376-5200) is closing its Cleveland, OH location. The company is closing the store because of a lack of nearby retail development and too few customers. More than 300 Dillard’s department stores operate in 29 states.

Old Original Bookbinders (804-643-6900) closed its Philadelphia, PA location last month due to a slump in business. The Philadelphia restaurant opened in 1865 and was the first Old Original Bookbinders location. The restaurant’s closing does not impact the restaurant’s second location in Richmond, VA. The restaurant’s operator, JS Restaurant Enterprises LLC, plans to open other Old Original Bookbinder locations, particularly on the east coast.

Shoe Carnival, Inc. (812-867-4034) closed a clearance store in Knoxville, TN last month. The company operates 182 footwear stores in the midwest, south and southeast.

Bergner’s (800-374-3000) is closing its location at the Lincoln Square Mall in Urbana, IL because of slow sales. The company, which is owned by Saks, Inc., operates 14 department stores in central IL.

Schnuck Markets, Inc. (314-994-4602) closed its 62,000 sq.ft. Schnucks supermarket at 2800 North Water Street in Decatur, IL last month. The company closed the location due to a Wal*Mart expansion in north Decatur, a new Wal*Mart Supercenter in Mt. Zion, IL and rising unemployment. Schnuck Markets, Inc. currently operates 90 supermarkets. Representatives of Schnuck Markets, Inc. are seeking to lease the building or to sell the company’s leasehold interest. Kash n’ Karry (800-882-2505) closed a location on southwest Third Street in Winter Haven, FL last month. The supermarket was closed because the company opened another location nearby. The company has more than 140 locations in central FL.

Bisou Bisou (213-748-4100) will close six stores, including one in Glendale, CA. Rutha Inc., parent company of the fashion apparel retailer, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month. The company operates 14 locations in the U.S.

Museum Company Inc. (877-363-4182) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month because of poor sales. The company sells art reproductions, jewelry, figurines, books and music at 104 stores in North America.
