McDonald’s Corp. (630-623-3000) is opening a fast-food restaurant at the intersection of East Greenville Street and Reed Road in Anderson, SC. The restaurant will share 7,292 sq.ft. with a Hot Spot convenience store. The location will be the company’s fifth in Anderson. The company operates more than 30,000 restaurants in 121 countries.

May Department Stores Co. (314-342-6250) plans to open 62 department stores and 150 bridal stores during the next five years. During 2002, the company plans to open 11 department stores and remodel 31 stores. The company operates 429 department stores, including Lord & Taylor, Hecht’s, Strawbridge’s, Foley’s, Robinsons-May and Kauffmann’s, and 123 David’s Bridal stores in 43 states.

Starbucks Corp. (206-447-7950) plans to open locations in Charleston, WV and in Sacramento, CA. The 1,900 sq.ft. Sacramento store will open at the Oak Parks arts center. The company operates more than 4,900 stores internationally

Academy Sports & Outdoors (281-646-5200) is opening a 62,000 sq.ft. location at 7850 South 107th East Avenue in Tulsa, OK. The store will be the sporting and outdoor goods retailer’s second in the city. The company operates more than 60 stores throughout AL, FL, LA, MS, OK and TN.

Publix Super Markets Inc. (863-688-1188) plans to open 11 stores in the metro area of Atlanta, GA this year. Locations will include stores in Cumming, Atlanta, Lawrenceville and Lilburn. The company operates 695 supermarkets throughout AL, FL, GA and SC.

Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. (608-323-3377) is opening two stores in the metro area of Atlanta, GA, the company’s first in the state. A 53,000 sq.ft. location will open at the Southlake Pavilion shopping center on Mount Zion Road in Morrow and a 40,000 sq.ft. location will open at Venture Pointe Shopping Center in Duluth. The company operates more than 100 stores in the U.S.

Furniture Brands International Inc. (314-863-1100) is opening a 12,500 sq.ft. Drexel Heritage store near North Point Mall in Atlanta, GA.

Birkenstock Footprint Sandals, Inc. (415-892-4200) is opening a Birkenstock Footprints store at the Milton Mall in St. Paul, MN. The company operates five stores in the U.S.

O’Charley’s, Inc. (615-256-8500) plans to open a Stoney River restaurant this year. The company’s growth strategy for the O’Charley’s concept is to continue penetrating existing and new targeted major metropolitan areas while opening new units in secondary markets in close proximity to metropolitan markets. The new store replaces a store the company closed at 40 East Shopping Center in Ocala. The company operates more than 1,000 stores in 49 states.

Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Inc. (410-239-2700) is opening a store at CoolSprings Galleria in Franklin, TN this month. The 5,500 sq.ft. store previously was occupied by three tenants, Nooks and Crannies, Pro Trader and Slammin’ Sams. The retailer of apparel for men operates 135 stores.

Tommy Hilfiger Corp. (212-840-8888) is opening a 6,200 sq.ft. store in Polo Park Shopping Centre in Winnipeg, Canada this month. The company operates 49 stores throughout North America, nine of which are in Canada.

Custo Barcelona (212-941-7057) is opening its first U.S. store this month. The 800 sq.ft. store will be located at 750 North Rush Street in Chicago, IL. Locations in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA are expected to open this Fall. The company operates stores in Barcelona, Spain and throughout Europe.

IHOP Corp. (818-240-6055) is opening a restaurant on Warren Road in Westland, MI. The restaurant will open at a former Bill Knapp’s location, which closed last year. The company operates more than 900 restaurants in 41 states and Canada.

Target Corp. (612-304-6073) is opening a 143,000 sq.ft. Target Greatlands store at the intersection of Wooded Acres Drive and Bosque Boulevard in Waco, TX. A 175,000 sq.ft. Super Target location is expected to open on North Main Street in Mishawka, IN during July. The company operates 1,409 stores in 47 states, including 1,081 Target stores, 264 Mervyn’s stores and 64 Marshall Field’s.

The Great Indoors (888-511-1155) is opening a 135,000 sq.ft. location at Deerbrook Mall in Deerfield, IL. The store is expected to open during Spring 2003. The retailer of home and lifestyle products operates 17 stores throughout the U.S.

Lowe’s Companies, Inc. (336-658-4000) is opening a 175,000 sq.ft. home improvement store at a former Montgomery Ward site in Clinton Township, MI. The company operates more than 750 locations nationwide.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. (336-726-8917) is opening two locations in Tuscon, AZ through its franchisee, Rigel Corp. Two locations also are expected to open in Phoenix, AZ this year. The openings are part of the company’s plan to open 59 stores this fiscal year, which ends in February 2003. The company operates more than 200 stores throughout the U.S.
