New Construction Glazier Corp. is planning to build a Food 4 Less supermarket in Chicago, IL. The 62,000 sq.ft. store will anchor an $11 million retail center in the city’s Englewood neighborhood. The supermarket chain’s strategy is to enter urban markets in cities or nearby suburbs. The company also acquired 7.7 acres on Ashland Avenue between 69th and 71st Streets for $2.3 million from Chicago Transit Authority. In addition, the company also plans to open another store in the Back of The Yards at the intersection of 47th Street and Damen Avenue and a 31,200 sq.ft. retail center that will likely include clothing retailers as well as other tenants typically found in a supermarket-anchored center along with eight gasoline pumps. The Chicago site, which was formerly used as a bus barn, will be the chain’s first store on the east side of the Mississippi River. Plans call for five to 10 openings annually. Vita & Vita Realty Corp. is developing Lincoln Park Plaza, a 61,000 sq.ft. shopping center in Lincoln Park, NJ. The center will be located at the intersection of Route 202, Route 511 and Main Street.
