Who's Opening & Where Fired Up, Inc. (512-263-0800) plans to open Johnny Carino’s Country Italian Restaurants in MI. The chain recently opened its 50th restaurant in FL and has agreements in place for Fired UP to open 415 locations nationwide and internationally during the next 10 years. Damon’s Grill (614-442-7900) plans to open 13 restaurants. The DMA Group plans to open 10 units in MI. GEM, a real estate and restaurant developer, has agreed to open one restaurant in PA and two in NJ. Damon’s operates more than 140 company-owned and franchised locations worldwide. Barnes & Noble, Inc. (212-633-3300) plans to open a bookstore in Edison, NJ. The 31,000 sq.ft. store is expected to open during May 2003 in Menlo Park Mall at the intersection of Parsonage Road and Lafayette Avenue. The company also plans to open a store in Middletown, RI. The 23,520 sq.ft. book store is expected to open in September 2003. The store will be located in Middletown Square, located on 1305 West Main Road. The company operates 606 stores in 49 states. Pickups Plus, Inc. (513-398-4344) plans to open a regional distribution center and retail store in Alpharetta, GA. The Alpharetta location will be the company’s first retail store in GA. The company also plans to open its second distribution center and retail store in the Forest Park area of Cincinnati, OH.Mr. Sub Ltd. (416-225-5545) plans to add 350 units to its chain during the next three to five years. The company, which offers 20 types of sandwiches, currently has 650 locations.The Krystal Co. (423-757-1550) plans to open nine restaurants in southern FL. The company expects to open eight more locations during the next five years in Hollywood, Davie, Pompano Beach and North Lauderdale, FL. CBRL Group, Inc. (615-444-5533) plans to open its first Logan’s Roadhouse restaurant in Austin, TX during December. The 8,000 sq.ft. restaurant will be located at the intersection of Interstate 35 and Stassney Lane. Logan’s operates more than 85 company-owned restaurants in 13 states.AutoZone, Inc. (901-495-6500) plans to open 150 stores during the next 12 months. The company’s areas of interest for growth include CA, southern FL, IL, the New England states and the Pacific northwest. The company prefers a land area of at least one acre for its 5,000 sq.ft. to 8,000 sq.ft. stores. Hollywood Video (503-570-1600) plans to open 100 Game Crazy locations by the end of the year. The Game Crazy stores occupy a space 1,000 sq.ft. and are built within, or next to, Hollywood Video stores. The stores are currently located in AZ, CA, NV, OR, TX and WA. Lowe’s Home Improvement (336-658-4000) is opening a store in Scio Township, MI. The store will be located on the north side of Jackson Road and will encompass an area of 178,000 sq.ft. The company also is planning to open a store in Greenville County, NC. The company has asked permission to clear a 28-acre site off of Poinsett Highway, north of Cherrydale Point, to build a new store. PlanetLink Communications, Inc. (404-781-0784) formed an agreement with Showtime Enterprises to open stores specializing in satellite-enabled technology. The company plans to expand the operation to malls in Macon, GA; Nashville, TN; Birmingham, AL; Charlotte, NC; and Greenville, SC. The company eventually plans to operate locations nationwide. Iacon, Inc. (480-451-3958) is opening five Occhiali da Sole optical stores in the West County Mall in St. Louis, MO; The Mall at Short Hills in Short Hills, NJ; the Beverly Center in Los Angles, CA; Fashion Valley in San Diego, CA and Bellevue Square in Bellevue, WA. The company also plans to open two Sunglass Designs locations at Park Place in Tucson, AZ and at Northridge Fashion Center in Northridge, CA. Three new Sporting Eyes locations are planned to open by the end of the year in West County Mall in St. Louis, MO, at the Mall at Millenia in Orlando, FL and in Main Place Mall in Santa Ana, CA. Espresso Royal Caffe (734-663-8863) plans to open 13 Espresso Royal stores in Brighton, Canton Township, Dexter and Plymouth, MI by the start of next year. The stores may have drive-thru windows and play-space for children.Home Depot (770-433-8211) is opening a store on the site of the former Bradlees at the Pathmark-anchored shopping center on Hackensack Avenue in Hackensack, NJ. The store is expected to open during early 2003. The store will have 102,000 sq.ft. of retail space and a gardening center of 9,900 sq.ft.Sakura Steak and Seafood House (301-972-9728) acquired a 7,200 sq.ft. site at Fair Lakes Center in Fairfax, VA. The site is located near Applebee’s and Jared Jewelers. The restaurant is expected to open during 2003. The company now has 11 Mid-Atlantic locations between Bel Air, MD and Fredericksburg, VA. Chuck E. Cheese (972-258-8507) has opened a location with a buffet concept in Waco, TX. Since its June opening the restaurant has generated more than $40,000 per week in sales. The company expect to open 150 units nationwide by 2005. Big Boy International (586-759-6000) plans to open a Big Boy Original "fast casual" restaurant at Ford Field in downtown Detroit, MI. Globe Restaurant Group, Inc. (718-987-2422) plans to open four Goodfella’s Old World Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta restaurants in NY and IN by the end of the year. The company plans to open six to nine more pizzerias during 2003. The company currently operates six locations.A Southern Season (919-929-7133) plans to open an expanded gourmet emporium in University Mall, located in Chapel Hill, NC. The restaurant will occupy 45,000 sq.ft., which is double the size of the retailer’s present location. The store is expected to open during Summer 2003. Trader Joe’s (626-599-3700) is seeking space for two or three locations in the Pittsburgh, PA area. The company expects to enter the market during 2003. The retailer is working to open 50 stores from Boston, MA to Washington, DC. Yo! Sushi (020-7841-0785) plans to open its first store in the U.S. next year, and add at least 10 more restaurants in major cities during the next 10 years. The company currently operates 13 units in London, England. |
