The Home Depot (770-433-8211) is planning to open a 129,000 sq.ft. home improvement center at the Crossroads Shopping Center in St. Petersburg, FL. The store will include a garden center and will take over the space formerly occupied by Montgomery Ward and Bennigan’s at 22nd Avenue North, near Tyrone Square Mall.

Walgreens (847-914-2500) is planning to open a 14,000 sq.ft. store on a pad site at The Marketplace at Hillsboro in Coconut Creek, FL. The 115,000 sq.ft. center is cotenanted by a 45,000 sq.ft. Winn-Dixie Marketplace.

Publix (863-680-5371) is planning to open a 44,840 sq.ft. supermarket at the intersection of Beltline Road Southwest and Glenn Street Southwest in Decatur, AL. The site was formerly occupied by Wal*Mart. Stein Mart is located adjacent to the site.

Shaw’s (508-313-3316) is planning to open a 58,000 sq.ft. supermarket in New Fairfield, CT. The supermarket is expected to open next year.

Wal*Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) plans to open a store on Interstate 5 in Thurston County, WA. The company also is opening stores in Lacey, Bonney Lake and Pierce County, WA.

Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (704-847-6961) plans to open two new stores in Milwaukee, WI during the coming six months. The company expects to open a store in December and another in February. It also plans to relocate its Mitchell Street Store to a portion of a new 26,000 sq.ft. building at Sixth and Mitchell, which is being developed by Mitchell Street Development Opportunities Corp. The stores typically occupy spaces of 6,000 sq.ft. to 8,000 sq.ft.

Kohl’s (262-703-7000) is opening a department store in March 2003 at the intersection of Milliken and 4th Street in Ontario, CA. CB Richard Ellis, Inc. represented Lewis Retail Centers in the sale of the eight acres of land which Kohl’s will occupy.

Beall’s Outlet Stores, Inc. (800-683-8655) is opening a store on 34th Street North in St. Peterburg, FL at a former Michaels Arts and Crafts. The 20,400 sq.ft. store is scheduled to open in October.

Circuit City (877-932-2225) is planning to open a 34,000 sq.ft. store this fall in a project being built on Interstate 78 in Greenwich Township, PA. The store will join Target, Lowe’s and several big-box stores situated on 73 acres of land.

The Ground Round Grill and Bar (800-229-7005) is planning to open two restaurants in Wichita, KS. Openings will take place on the west side of Wichita in February and on the east side shortly after. The restaurants will occupy spaces of 4,600 sq.ft.

Dania (847-205-9910) is opening a 45,711 sq.ft. furniture store at Hoffman Plaza in Hoffman Estates, IL during October. Dania operates more than 30 stores throughout the western and northwestern United States. The retailer is considering opening additional locations in the Chicago, IL area and the Milwaukee, WI market.

Bassett Furniture Direct (253-620-6333) is planning to open its third store in St. Louis, MO on Manchester Road. The furniture chain’s first two stores occupy spaces of 21,000 sq.ft. and 28,000 sq.ft. Plans call for more expansion in the St. Louis market.

Health Express USA (954-570-5900) is planning to open a restaurant in Boca Raton, FL. The fast-food restaurant, specializing in gourmet health food, will be the prototype unit for future franchise locations.

Save A Lot, Ltd. (314-592-9100) is planning to open two to three supermarkets by the end of the year in the Charlotte, NC market and six to 10 more annually during the next five years in NC and SC. Plans also call for an opening in Columbus, IN later this year.

Yankee Candle Co. (800-243-1776) is planning to open Yankee Candle Home in Deerfield, MA. The store will feature more expensive merchandise, including linens, kitchen items and gardening gear.

Hannaford Brothers Co. (207-883-2911) and Shaw’s Supermarket (508-313-3316) are exploring locations on Main Street in Hillsborough, NH.

Goodwill Industries (240-333-5200) is planning to open a 25,000 sq.ft. Goodwill in North Pinellas or Pasco County, FL by 2005.

Poppybox Gardens, Inc. (503-280-1228) is planning to open 30 stores throughout AZ, CA, OR and WA. The nurseries would occupy a space of 10,000 sq.ft. The company currently operates three stores in Tigard and northeast Portland, OR and Phoenix, AZ.

Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, Inc. (310-342-1520) is planning to open 19 Wolfgang Puck Express restaurants throughout the year. The restaurants serve pizza, salads, pastas and other specialties.

Qdoba Mexican Grill (303-629-5000) recently opened its Family Center restaurant in Greensboro, NC. The restaurant occupies a space of 2,500 sq.ft. The Mexican food chain also has locations in Winston-Salem, Charlotte and Raleigh, NC. Plans also call for a second restaurant to open in Winston-Salem.

Jolly Enterprises, Inc. (856-234-4448) is planning to open two Jolly Food Mart stores in Fultondale and Gardendale, AL. The chain currently operates 25 locations in the greater Birmingham, AL area.

Dunlap’s (817-336-4985) plans to open a department store at the Durango Mall in Durango, CO during 2003 in a 20,000 sq.ft. space formerly used as bowling alley. The company has 54 stores throughout the country in small to mid-sized towns, with four stores scheduled to open in CO by the end of 2003. The stores operate under 25 names, including Dunlap with 11 stores, followed by Steketee’s, M.M. Cohn, Stripling & Cox, Lintz, Porteous and Heironimus. A Dunlap’s opened in Glenwood Springs, CO last fall and another will open in Montrose, CO during October.

Oceanaire Seafood Room (612-343-9626) is planning to open a 9,500 sq.ft. restaurant at 30 South Meridian Street in downtown Indianapolis, IN at the former L.S. Ayres store.

The Bonefish Grill (813-282-1225) is planning to open a 6,100 sq.ft. restaurant at 6315 Multiplex Drive in Centerville,VA. The restaurant, which specializes in seafood, is a joint venture between B.J. Stone’s Co., BFG/Rockfish and Outback. The company has joint venture agreements in FL, IN, NC, TN and TX with expansion plans for a national roll-out.

Stir Crazy Restaurants (312-645-1800) recently opened a 6,000 sq.ft. restaurant at the Palisades Center in West Nyack, NY. The restaurant specializes in Asian dishes and features a create-your-own stir fry bar. Plans call for a seventh restaurant to open in St. Louis, MO and three more units to open in 2003.

Elizabeth Grady (781-391-9380) is planning to open skin care salons on the west coast. The company operates 23 salons.

Macaroni Grill (972-980-9917) plans to open a 6,500 sq.ft. restaurant at Opry Mills in Nashville, TN next May.
