Home Depot (770-433-8211) is looking to purchase 58 acres of land to open a home improvement store on Interstate 93 in Littleton, CT.

Advance Auto Parts (540-362-4911) is planning to open 100 to 125 stores this year. The company operates 2,400 stores in 38 states.

Circuit City (804-527-4000) is planning to open eight superstores and relocate 10 stores in the current fiscal year.

Linens ‘n Things, Inc. (973-778-1300) is planning to open stores in Weymouth, MA; Burleson, TX; Ellicott City, MD and Camp Hill, PA.

RARE Hospitality International (770-399-9595) is planning to open seven to eight LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants by the end of the year, one Capital Grille restaurant by the first half of 2003 and two Bugaboo Creek Steak House restaurants by the end of the year.

OfficeMax, Inc. (216-921-6900) is planning to open six superstores in Puerto Rico during the next two years. The company currently operates eight stores throughout the island. When the openings are complete, Puerto Rico will be among the major markets the company serves with more than 10 superstores.

Best Buy (952-947-2000) is opening a store at the site of the former Waldbaums at Caesar’s Bay in Brooklyn, NY. The 38,000 sq.ft. electronics store will be located on Bay Parkway and is expected to open by November. The company plans to open 16 stores in NJ and NY during the next two years and currently operates 492 locations nationwide.

Starbucks (206-318-1575) recently launched its large-scale market test of Starbucks Express in Denver, CO. The service allows customers to order or pay for pastries and beverages over the phone or via the Internet. Starbucks Express will be available in more than 60 stores throughout metro Denver, Boulder and Aurora, CO.

Redner’s Warehouse Markets, Inc. (610-926-3700) is planning to open a supermarket in Muhlenberg Township, PA by November. The store will be in the former Ames Department Store at Madeira Plaza, located on 3215 North Fifth Street Highway. The store, which is the 34th in the chain, will occupy a space of 52,000 sq.ft.

Haverty, Inc. (404-443-1911) is planning to open six furniture stores. The first is currently being built in Clearwater, FL. The company is opening three stores in Orlando, FL and two in Washington, DC.

O’Charley’s, Inc. (615-256-8500) opened O’Charley’s restaurants in St. Louis, MO; Fort Wayne, IN; Augusta, GA; Richmond, IN; Christanburg, VA and Georgetown, KY during the second quarter. The company opened locations in Atlanta, GA and Louisville, KY during the third quarter. The company currently operates 175 restaurants with plans to open eight more locations by the end of the year and 27 to 29 restaurants by 2003.

YUM! Brands, Inc. (502-874-8300) is planning to open 1,000 restaurants annually. The company trades as Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC and is looking for new opportunities to pair its restaurants and open multi-branded stores in the US.

Millennium Venture Group (303-390-1700) plans to open 100 VoiceStream Wireless stores and Lavazza coffee stores by the end of the year. The Lavazza stores will feature a drive-thru café, while VoiceStream Wireless will offer walk-in wireless retail, service initiation and accessories.

American Signature Home (615-778-9557) recently opened a store at the intersection of Galleria Boulevard and Bakers Bridge in Cool Springs, TN. The store, formerly occupied by Upton’s, is the company’s first location. Plans call for 25 openings throughout the southeast within the year and additional Nashville, TN locations. American Signature Home is a division of Schottenstein Stores Corp.

Fox’s Pizza Den, Inc. (724-733-7888) is planning to open 40 to 50 locations next year. The company currently operates eight locations in Delmont, Harrison City, Monroeville, Murrysville, Penn Hills, Pitcairn, Plum and Turtle Creek, PA.

Radio Shack Corp. (817-415-3200) opened its "Best To Shop" concept store at the Charles D. Tandy Center in Fort Worth, TX. The new concept contains point-of-purchase signage, which tells customers where merchandise is located and provides information about the benefits of the products. The company plans to open 20 locations in Jacksonville, FL by the end of the year. The new concept stores will occupy an average of 2,220 sq.ft.

Beall’s, Inc. (800-250-9206) is planning to open eight department stores and 80 outlets next year. Growth will continue in the southern states and an entry into CA is anticipated.

Fuel Pizza (641-398-2390) is planning to open 50 pizzerias during the next four years. The company expects to open two restaurants by the end of the year.

Stein Mart (904-346-1500) opened a store at the intersection of Zelzah Avenue and Chatsworth Street in Granada Hills, CA. The store, which specializes in discount clothing, occupies a space of 38,000 sq.ft. The company plans to add 60 more stores to the 250-store chain.

Scheels All Sports (701-232-3665) is opening a 60,000 sq.ft. store at the Southern Hills Mall in Sioux City, IA. The store, which is expected to open in April 2003, will occupy a space of 10,000 sq.ft. of existing mall area and add another 50,000 sq.ft. of new space. Mall cotenants will include Sears, Younkers, Target and Cinemas 12.

Brinker International (972-980-9917) is considering opening a Chili’s Bar and Grill in Zephyrhills, FL. The restaurant, which specializes in Southwestern-style food, would be located near a Wal*Mart Supercenter which recently opened. Chili’s currently operates 80 locations in FL.

Wal*Mart (650-837-5000) is considering opening a store in Boulder, CO. Two possible sites for the store are the Macerich Co.-owned Crossroads Mall and Diagonal Plaza, located at Iris Avenue and 30th St.

Tractor Supply Co. (615-360-6800) plans to open 112 farm and ranch stores by the end of the year, with four openings planned for the third quarter. The company opened 106 stores during the first six months of the year.

Ruddick Corp. (704-372-5404) plans to open three Harris Teeter Stores by the end of the year. At the end of the quarter, the company operated 143 stores.

Kroger Co. (513-762-4000) recently opened its 300th gas station at the Kroger store in League City, TX. The company also plans to open the first gas site for Food 4 Less and will have more than 350 supermarket fuel centers open by the end of the fiscal year. The company operates 2,429 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 32 states as well as 780 convenience stores, 436 jewelry stores and 41 food processing plants.

Talbots (800-533-3201) is planning to open three men’s clothing stores in 2003. The company, which specializes in women’s clothing, currently operates 800 locations.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (800-457-4779) is opening a store in San Antonio, TX. The store is scheduled to open in early October and will offer 24-hour service. The company is planning a second opening in San Antonio within the next 12 months.
