Closings Big Boy International (586-759-6000) closed its restaurant located at 101 East Grand River Avenue in East Lansing, MI. The company cited lack of parking and the fluctuating schedule of Michigan State University students as the reason for its closing. Gottschalk’s, Inc. (559-434-4800) is closing six stores and has sold its credit card business in an effort to improve productivity. The company also is planning to defer new store openings until 2004. The store closings and the sale of the credit card business, along with other cost cutting, will help the company reduce expenses by about $15 million per year. The Walt Disney Co., Inc. (818-560-1000) closed its 4,000 sq.ft. Disney Store at the Mall St. Vincent in Shreveport, LA, as the company begins a nationwide shutdown of many of its retail outlets. Zale Corp. (972-580-4000) closed its store at the Nugget Mall in Juneau, AK because of declining sales and its lease had expired. |
