Lisa’s Central Market (530-582-2280) is planning to open a 5,300 sq.ft. supermarket in Reno, NV. The supermarket offers local and organic produce, meats, dairy and groceries as well as prepared foods. The store has a 1940s theme with swing and jazz music playing throughout the store. Future locations will average 5,000 sq.ft.

Fauchon (212-308-5919) opened a 1,400 sq.ft. store on the Upper East Side on Third Avenue near 78th Street in New York, NY. The store sells an array of more than 1,200 of Fauchon’s own label of luxury food items. The company currently operates a 3,600 sq.ft. flagship store and salon on Park Avenue and 56th Street. Fauchon currently operates 620 stores worldwide. The French retailer would like to add another two to three stores in NY in the 1,000 sq.ft. range. The company also is establishing a wider in-store presence throughout the U.S. with 17 boutiques inside of Neiman Marcus department stores.

Carrabba’s (813-288-8286) is planning to open a restaurant on a 1.5-acre site at the intersection of Route 301 and Governor’s Green Road in Bowie, MD. This will be the company’s fifth restaurant in the Washington, DC area. Opening is slated for later this year.

The stores are brightly lit and feature strong directional and category signage. Big Lots has opened 38 locations from New England to Baltimore since it built a distribution center in Tremont, PA two years ago.

The new concept features an updated decor, different ingredients and added services, such as food served on china plates, light table service and free Internet services.
