Who's Opening & Where H&M (212-489-8777) is planning to open 110 stores this year throughout Europe and the U.S. The company also is expanding its presence throughout Eastern Europe, opening five stores in Poland and three in the Czech Republic this year. H&M also is opening four stores in Portugal and signed leases for five stores in Toronto, ON, Canada, which it plans to open during 2004. The company currently operates 844 stores in 14 countries. Barnes & Noble, Inc. (212-633-3300) is planning to open a 25,000 sq.ft. store at Southern Hills Mall in Sioux City, IA during March 2004. The store will feature a Starbucks coffee shop. The company currently operates 620 Barnes & Noble stores throughout 49 states and Washington, DC, as well as 281 B. Dalton stores. Max & Erma’s (614-431-5800) is planning to open a restaurant at Simon Bay Park Square at the intersection of Pilgrim Way and Oneida Street in Ashwaubenon, WI. The company currently operates 67 company-owned and 14 franchise restaurants and is planning to open 10 locations this year. Michaels Stores, Inc. (800-642-4235) has plans to grow to 1,300 units throughout the existing markets. The company currently operates 759 stores throughout 48 states and Canada. The company also is planning on opening 17 to 19 stores in Canada, including eight locations in the Toronto, ON area. Washington Mutual, Inc. Borders Books & Music store at the intersection of Interstate 29 and Barry Road at the Shops at Boardwalk in Kansas City, MO. Overall, the company plans to open between 190 and 200 franchised and company-owned restaurants this year. The company operates over 2,500 restaurants nationwide.Wendy’s International (614-764-3100) is planning to open a Baja Fresh Mexican Grill restaurant at the Quadrant Lake Union Center in Seattle, WA during March. The company plans on expanding the chain to 500 to 600 locations in the next five years. There are currently 210 Baja Fresh restaurants throughout 18 states and Washington, DC. Mary’s Pizza Shack (707-938-3602) is planning to open 15 restaurants during the coming five years, mostly outside of Sonoma County, CA. The expansion will focus on the Interstate 80 corridor, including the cities of Davis, Rocklin and Roseville, CA. The company also hopes to add sites in Contra Costa County, CA and is scouting for a location in Healdsburg, CA. Subway (203-877-4281) is planning to open 35 sub shops this year, with a focus on the Puget Sound area of WA. The company currently operates 17,588 stores in 73 countries. Garden Fresh Corp. (858-675-1600) is planning to open two Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes restaurants this year. The company currently operates 97 restaurants throughout AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, KS, MO, NC, NM, NV, OR, TX, UT and WA. The Cheesecake Factory, Inc. (818-871-3000) opened a restaurant at the Menlo Park Mall in Edison, NJ. The restaurant is the company’s third location in the New York metro market and represents the first of 14 openings this year. The company plans on opening restaurants in West Nyack and White Plains, NY. Overall, the company operates 60 restaurants, as well as three Grand Lux Cafe restaurants in Los Angeles, CA; Chicago, IL and Las Vegas, NV; one self-service The Cheesecake Factory Express inside DisneyQuest in Orlando, FL and three bakery cafe outlets under The Cheesecake Factory Bakery Cafe name.Eckerd Corp. (800-325-3737) is planning to open 30 stores throughout the Phoenix and Tucson, AZ area this year, as well as 30 during 2004 and 20 during 2005. Target Corp. (612-304-6073) is planning to open three stores throughout WV, including sites in Bridgeport, Morgantown and Beckley. Nationwide, the company plans on opening 100 stores, including 25 SuperTarget locations. Wal*Mart Stores, Inc. (650-837-5000) is planning to open a Wal*Mart Supercenter at Village Lakes shopping center near the intersection of U.S. 41 and North Dale Mabry Highway in Land O’Lakes, FL. The 203,500 sq.ft. location will replace the existing Wal*Mart at the center. Construction is planned for the Summer with completion slated for Spring 2004. Chicago Pizza & Brewery, Inc. (714-848-3747) is planning to open a restaurant at the Oakridge Mall in San Jose, CA during the Fall, while another location is planned near the Cerritos Mall in Cerritos, CA during the Summer. |
