Value Music Concepts (770-919-2115) is closing The Sound Shop at the Bradford Square Mall in Hopkinsville, KY because of increased competition and downloading of music off the Internet. The Sound Shop is the second mall store to close this month.

Troutman’s Emporium (888-511-4961) is closing its 34 stores because of increased competition. The company asked a bankruptcy court to let it begin auctioning off leases this month.

Sea Dream Leather (804-358-3830) filed for federal bankruptcy protection because of declining sales. The company plans on closing six stores throughout VA, including three in the Hampton Roads area, one at the Cloverleaf Mall in Richmond, one in Charlottesville and the other in northern VA. The company filed for Chapter 11 protection. It listed $1.9 million in assets and $988,748 in liabilities. One-third of the chain’s stores are in the military area of Hampton Roads.

Duckwall-ALCO Stores Co. (785-263-3350) closed its store at 1401 East Kansas Avenue in Garden City, KS. The company plans on focusing on communities with populations of 5,000 or less.

Furr’s Restaurant Group (972-808-2923) closed its restaurant in Sherman, TX. The company announced plans to close 11 restaurants after filing for bankruptcy in January. The company operates 75 restaurants nationwide.

Cablevisions Systems Corp. (516-803-2300) is considering closing or selling its 17 remaining The Wiz stores and will exit the business by the end of the second quarter because of declining sales.

Interstate Bakeries Corp. (816-502-4000) is planning to close about 100 underperforming thrift stores in an effort to cut costs and improve efficiency. The company will close some of the stores by the end of the quarter and the rest by year’s end. The company currently operates 1,375 stores and 61 bakeries.

Food Lion (704-633-8250) closed its supermarket in the Smyrna Creek Plaza in New Smyrna Beach, FL because of declining sales.

Stein Mart, Inc. (904-346-1500) is planning to close its store at the Greenfield Fashion Center in Greenfield, WI. The company recently closed a store at 8063 West Brown Deer Road, in Milwaukee WI.

Dillard’s, Inc. (501-376-5200) is planning to close its store at the Randall Park Mall in Cleveland, OH because of declining sales. The company also is closing one location in TN and two in SC. The company also is closing its store at the Richland Mall in Columbia, SC.
