Delhaize America (704-633-8250) is planning to open 12 supermarkets during the coming 18 months in Lee and Collier County, FL. The company currently operates more than 140 stores throughout FL.

Family Dollar Stores (704-847-6961) is planning to open 575 stores this year.

Kohl’s Corp. (262-703-7000) is planning to open 80 stores this year, including locations in Trexlertown, Richland Township and Doylestown, PA. The company currently operates 485 stores throughout 34 states, including 26 in PA. Overall, the company plans on opening 180 stores by the end of 2005.

Dollar Tree Stores (757-321-5000) is planning to open 20 stores throughout TX. Nationwide, the company plans to grow its retail space by 22%.

National Amusements, Inc. (781-461-1600) is planning to open a 16-screen theater at the Greene Town Center located at the intersection of Interstate 675 and Indian Ripple Road in Beavercreek, OH by 2005.

Leather Factory, Inc. (817-496-4414) is planning to open 12 stores this year. The company, a subsidiary of Tandy Leather, recently opened stores in Orange County, CA and Atlanta, GA.

The Kroger Co. (513-762-4000) is planning to open, relocate or expand 100 to 110 of its supermarkets this year.

Furniture Row Cos. (720-748-6822) opened a store at 1420 Twixt Town Road in Marion, IA. The company has aggressive plans for expansion. Furniture Row Cos. is the fourth largest family-owned specialty home furnishings and bedding retailer. It is comprised of a flagship brand Oak Express and five other company-owned operations, including Sofa Mart, Bedroom Expressions, Denver Mattress Co., Big Sur, Waterbeds and Furniture Row Outlets. The company operates 232 stores nationwide.

Donato’s Pizzeria Corp. (614-416-7700) is planning to open 10 restaurants this year. The company currently operates approximately 200 locations throughout seven states.

Walgreen Co. (847-914-2500) is planning to open 360 stores this year. The company currently operates 3,883 drug stores nationwide.

H&M (212-489-7777) is planning to open 110 stores in Europe and the U.S. this year. The company also is expanding its presence in Eastern Europe, opening five stores in Poland and three in the Czech Republic. H&M operates 849 stores in 14 countries. In the second quarter, the company plans to open 47 stores and close three.

Sonic Corp. (405-280-7654) is planning to open 190 Sonic Drive-In restaurants this year.

McDonald’s Corp. (630-623-3000) is planning to open a 3,300 sq.ft. restaurant on Mound Road, near 12 Mile, in Macomb, GA. The location is a brownfield site. The opening will coincide with the closing of a McDonald’s restaurant located around the corner.

Meritage Hospitality Group (616-776-2600) opened a Wendy’s restaurant in Grandville, MI and anticipates opening up to four additional Wendy’s restaurants during the remainder of the year.

Beall’s, Inc. (800-250-9206) is planning to open 12 Beall’s Home Outlets home decor stores this year. The stores include sites at Sarasota Square Mall in Sarasota, FL; Desoto Square Mall in Bradenton, FL and near the Prime Outlets at Ellenton. The new concept replaces a string of MyGiftCottage stores and marks a major strategy shift at the $700 million company, which is getting out of the collectible business.

The May Department Stores, Inc. (314-342-6300) is planning to open 11 department stores this year, including three Foley’s stores, three Kaufmann’s stores and one store each of Famous-Barr, Filene’s, Hecht’s, Lord & Taylor and Meier & Frank. The company also plans on opening a total of 30 David’s Bridal stores this year. The company operates 445 department stores, including 172 David’s Bridal locations, 237 After Hours Formalwear stores and 10 Priscilla of Boston stores throughout 44 states, Washington, DC and Puerto Rico.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (336-726-8917) is planning to open 10 locations in Long Island, NY this year.

California Pizza Kitchen (310-342-5000) is planning to open a minimum of 18 restaurants this year.

Health Express USA (800-575-4144) is planning to open a Healthy Bites Grill location in south FL.

Fred’s, Inc. (901-362-3733) has opened 17 of its 70 planned stores this year. The company opened 61 stores last year.

The Home Depot, Inc. (770-433-8211) is planning to open a store on Putney Road in Brattleboro, MA, as well as stores in Keene and Greenfield, MA. The Brattleboro store would be in the 60,000 sq.ft. former Ames building. The Keene store is slated for an August opening as the 133,106 sq.ft. anchor store for Monadnock Marketplace. The Greenfield store would be 70,000 sq.ft.

Quaker Steak & Lube (724-981-0951) is opening a restaurant on Speedway Boulevard, near Lowe’s Motor Speedway, in Charlotte, NC. Opening for the 8,000 sq.ft. location is planned for August.

Starbucks Corp. (206-447-7950) is planning to open 10,000 stores nationwide by the end of fiscal 2005, including 26 stores in WA. The company ultimately expects to operate 25,000 locations worldwide, with 15,000 of those outside North America.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc. (303-846-6000) is planning to open eight Red Robin locations throughout the Dallas, TX area by 2008. The first location is scheduled to open in Cedar Hill, TX, while the second is planned for Plano, TX for early 2004. The company currently operates 100 restaurants nationwide.

Recreational Equipment, Inc. (800-426-4840) is planning to open a store in Folsom, CA. The store would be the company’s third location in the Sacramento, CA area. Opening is slated for later this year. The chain’s stores typically range in size from 23,000 sq.ft. to 25,000 sq.ft.

The Buckle, Inc. (308-236-8491) is planning to add 16 stores and remodel 15 others this year. The company operates 304 apparel stores throughout 37 states.

Barnes & Noble, Inc. (212-633-3300) is planning to open a 25,000 sq.ft. store at Spring Hill Mall located at 1072 Spring Hill Mall Boulevard in West Dundee, IL during Spring 2004. The company also is planning to open a 33,000 sq.ft. store in the Zona Rosa Shopping Center located on Barry Road in Kansas City, MO during September 2004. The company also is planning to open a 25,000 sq.ft. store at The Centre in Copperfield located at the intersection of State Highway 6, FM 529 and Glen Chase Drive in northwest Houston, TX during March 2004. The company also is planning to open an 18,100 sq.ft. store in the Pico Rivera Towne Center located at the intersection of Rosemead Boulevard and Washington Boulevard in Pico Rivera, CA. This store will cater to a large Hispanic community and will have signs in both English and Spanish, a large selection of Spanish language books, an expanded Hispanic music offering and a separate Spanish language children’s section. Barnes & Noble currently operates 628 stores throughout 49 states. The company also operates 258 B. Dalton Bookseller locations, primarily in regional malls.

Bass Pro Shops (417-873-5000) is planning to open a Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World at the Savannah Mall in Savannah, GA. The 104,000 sq.ft. store is slated to open during July in a space formerly occupied by Parisians. The chain also is planning expansion in Destin, FL; Myrtle Beach, SC; Bossier City, LA; Hampton, VA; Oklahoma City, OK; Columbia, MO and Las Vegas, NV.

Panera Bread (314-633-7100) is planning to open 120 locations this year. The company added more than 100 stores last year. The company also is adding two locations in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area. The first will open in September at Triangle Plaza, a Best Buy-anchored center on Capital Boulevard. In November, the company will open another location in Alexander Place, a Wal*Mart-anchored center being built off Glenwood Avenue and Brier Creek in North Raleigh, NC.

Talbots (800-533-3201) is planning to open six men’s stores this year with a more aggressive rollout of sites by 2005. The apparel chain currently operates 900 stores nationwide, catering to young adults.

Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) is planning to open a store in Austin, TX this year and one in Dallas and San Antonio during 2005.

Serranos Cafe and Cantina (512-328-9200) opened a restaurant at 2815 Shepherd in Houston, TX.

Bank of America Corp. (800-299-2265) is planning to open 50 branches this year.

Qdoba Restaurant Corp. (303-629-5000) is planning to open eight restaurants throughout southwestern OH. The first location is scheduled to open during September. The company is planning to take four years to open all eight restaurants. The company currently has approximately 250 restaurants in the development phase. Overall, Qdoba operates 85 locations throughout 17 states.

Coldwater Creek, Inc. (208-263-2266) is planning to open 29 stores this year and is considering opening another 40 stores during 2004. The company currently operates 43 stores, excluding outlet locations.

Taco Bob’s (269-342-4545) is planning to open a location at 116 Second Street in Lawton, MI. The company currently operates three locations, including a site at 300 South Burdick; 126 East Centre in Portage; and 108 East Washington in Vicksburg, MI.

Charming Shoppes, Inc. (215-245-9100) opened a store at Las Palmas Marketplace in El Paso, TX. Overall, the company is planning to open 200 stores this year and during 2004. The company currently operates more than 600 stores nationwide.

Family Video (217-544-2001) is planning to open 50 to 70 stores a year. The company currently operates 271 locations throughout nine Midwestern states, including IA, IL, IN, MI, MO, OH, PA and WI.

Verizon Wireless (908-306-7000) is planning to open 15 locations throughout AL and GA.

Chipotle Mexican Grill (303-595-4000) is planning to open approximately 100 locations this year.

Costco Wholesale Corp. (425-313-8100) is planning to open a location at the intersection of Highway 67 and Main Street in Duncanville, TX. The store would be situated on a land area of 24 acres.

Robb & Stucky (239-437-7997) opened an 80,000 sq.ft. furniture store at Mizner Park in Boca Raton, FL. The site was formerly occupied by Jacobson’s department store. The company currently operates 14 showrooms nationwide. The company also plans on opening stores in Palm Beach Gardens and Aventure, FL.

Goodwill Industries International (301-530-6500) is planning to open four stores this year. The company recently opened a 13,400 sq.ft. store in the former Bank of America building on Park Central Square and an 8,500 sq.ft. retail space near the intersection of Kansas Expressway and Kearney Street in Springfield, MO.

Christopher & Banks Corp. (763-551-5000) opened a C.J. Banks store at Towne West Square in Wichita, KS. Overall, the company is planning to open 22 stores this year. The stores cater to women size 14 and up.

Farmer Jack (877-327-5225) is planning to open a 64,000 sq.ft. store located at 11300 East Jefferson Avenue at St. Jean in Detroit, MI. Opening is slated for the Summer. Expansion efforts also include plans to build two more Farmer Jack locations in Milford and Dearborn Heights, MI. All three stores will offer full service meat and seafood departments, in-store bakeries and specialty foods. The company also is planning to close four stores, including locations at 20900 Gratiot in Eastpointe, 500 East Warren in Detroit, 4242 East Ten Mile Road in Warren and 28107 West Eight Mile Road in Livonia, MI.

Triarc Cos. (212-451-3000) opened 116 Arby’s locations and closed 64 units. The company is planning to open approximately 550 Arby’s locations through 2010.

Shake’s Frozen Custard (479-587-9115) is planning to have 600 operating units by 2007. The company currently operates 37 stores nationwide. Shake’s also is planning to open locations on Wal*Mart Supercenter sites in Longview and San Antonio, TX and Conway, AR and would like to open three Shake’s stores in Springfield, MO.

Big Lots, Inc. (614-278-6800) is planning to open 90 stores; expand the furniture business by adding 145 departments in new and existing stores; and remodel over 200 stores in eastern U.S. markets. The company recently took over a portion of a former Kmart location at Siegen Village located north of Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge, LA. Overall, the company operates 1,350 stores nationwide.

PetsMart, Inc. (623-580-6100) is planning to open 60 stores this year. The company currently operates 580 stores nationwide.

Lucchesi’s Ravioli and Pasta Co. (901-766-9922) is planning to open 50 company-owned and franchised locations during the coming five years. All the stores will have cafe areas for sit-down meals. Currently, the company has stores under development in Little Rock, AR and Louisville, KY.

Albertsons operates supermarkets in 30 states under the names Jewel-Osco, Albertsons, Sav-On-Drugs, Super Save and Max Foods.
