The Mitchell Co. is developing Duval Station Centre at North Creek, an 80,000 sq.ft. center located at the intersection of Duval Station Road and Starratt Road in Jacksonville, FL. The center is anchored by a Publix supermarket and AmSouth Bank. It also will include 30,000 sq.ft. of specialty retail stores and restaurants. Opening is slated for September.

SEC Commercial Realty Group is preleasing Publix in the Acreage, an 85,200 sq.ft. center located at the intersection of Seminole Pratt, Whitney Road and Orange Boulevard in Loxahatchee, FL. The center has space available of 10,000 sq.ft. and is anchored by Publix and tenanted by Subway and The Brickyard Restaurant. Area retail includes Winn-Dixie. Asking rent is $20 psf with CAM of $5 psf. Area demographics include a population of 33,880 within five miles earning $67,884 as the average household income. Opening is slated for the Summer.

Burk Collins & Co. is planning to develop Precinct Village, a 35,000 sq.ft. center located at the intersection of Davis Boulevard and Precinct Line Road in North Richland Hills, TX. Area retail includes a Wal*Mart Supercenter and a Super Target. Tenants are expected to include Cato, Sally Beauty Supply, Hollywood Video, a nail salon and a restaurant.

Continental Properties Co. is planning to develop a site located at Ohio University along East State Street in Athens, OH. The company has already signed leases with Ruby Tuesday, Wal*Mart and Burger King. Phase II is located just to the east of Ruby Tuesday. The development will consist of four businesses in individual buildings next to East State Street and a large retail space built closer to the Hocking River. The large retail area is a strip center that has spaces for nine tenants. Construction is expected to begin during the Summer.

Manekin, LLC is developing Park Avenue, a 190,000 sq.ft. center located at 2001 Emmorton Road in Harford County, MD. The center is situated on a land area of 22 acres and has spaces available from 1,200 sq.ft., as well as restaurant and retail pad sites. Opening is slated for Spring 2004. The center will feature fountains, benches and sculptures and will have a pedestrian streetscape. Area demographics include a population of 106,000 within five miles earning $82,237 as the average household income.

The Goodman Co. is developing Jefferson Crossroads, a center located at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Bland Boulevard in Newport News, VA. The center is the final large tract of land that was once the Yoder Dairy and is situated on a land area of 69 acres. The site can accommodate approximately 500,000 sq.ft. of retail space. Construction is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2004.

Burton-Katzman Development Co. is developing a $25 million residential, office and retail building at the site of a former Jacobson’s department store in downtown Birmingham, AL. The company would build a three-story, 100,000 sq.ft. project at the intersection of North Old Woodward and Willits Street, following demolition of the four-story, 90,000 sq.ft. store. Construction is slated for next year. Plans for the development include retail on the ground floor, offices on the second level and an undetermined number of residential units on the top floor. The company also plans on redeveloping another former Jacobson’s building located at the intersection of Maple Road and Bates Street in Birmingham. The company plans to redevelop the 100,000 sq.ft. building into a mixture of office and retail uses.
