Edge Partners, LLC (718-585-5500) announced that Bob Gellert has joined Edge Management, LLC, the leasing and property management arm of Edge Partners, a private investment firm specializing in the acquisition and workout of mortgages and the development and repositioning of commercial and residential real estate assets that present value-added opportunities. Gellert will direct on-site management, leasing, marketing and tenant relation efforts for Deegan Gateway, a 432,000 sq.ft. property located at 385 Gerard Avenue in the Bronx, NY. Prior to joining Edge, Gellert was director of marketing of Argent Ventures, where he managed and directed the disposition of a 550-unit portfolio of unsold cooperative apartment shares. In addition, he directed the marketing and leasing effort of a one million sq.ft. mixed-use property. Gellert created and implemented marketing campaigns to simultaneously lease and operate 180,000 sq.ft. of retail space at The Manhattan Mall, a 450,000 sq.ft. center. Prior to joining Argent, Gellert was director of marketing and accelerated sales at The Carlton Group.

Mid-America Real Estate Corp. (630-954-7300) announced that Stanley Nitzberg was named 2002 Crain’s Chicago Business Retail Broker of the Year. Nitzberg’s 2002 achievements involved over $183 million in real estate transactions in the Chicago, IL area, including the largest transaction on North Michigan Avenue (the 45,000 sq.ft. H&M store located at 840 North Michigan Avenue).

Donahue Schriber (714-545-1400) announced that Michele Babcock has been named executive vice president of operations. Babcock will fill the vacancy created when Patrick S. Donahue was promoted to serve as president and COO. Babcock will be responsible for all phases of operations for the REIT and third-party asset management. In addition, she will join the company’s five-member executive committee. Babcock formerly served as vice president of leasing and development for the Donahue Schriber REIT division. Her responsibilities have included handling REIT leasing and the re-merchandising and redevelopment of 33 centers encompassing nearly four million sq.ft. in AZ, CA and NV. In the area of development, Babcock’s primary responsibilities were new acquisitions and development opportunities throughout AZ, with a focus on the Phoenix and Tucson markets. Prior to joining the company in 1995, Babcock was a retail specialist with CB Commercial Real Estate Group, where she specialized in leasing community and neighborhood shopping centers.
