Who's Opening & Where Office Depot, Inc. (888-463-3768) is planning to open a 16,715 sq.ft. store at the Bed Bath Beyond Plaza located at the intersection of 107th Avenue and 19th Street in Miami, FL. Opening is slated for early 2004. Cotenants include Pier 1 Imports, Cargo Kids, Party City, Fuddruckers, Sally Beauty Supply and Sprint PCS. Chicago Pizza & Brewery, Inc. (714-848-3747) is planning to open an 8,100 sq.ft. restaurant at the Canyon Pointe Center located at the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Interstate 215 in Summerlin, NV. Opening is slated for Summer 2004. The company currently operates 31 casual dining restaurants, including locations in AZ, CA, CO and TX. In addition, the company operates six restaurants in OR, three of which are Pietro’s, and has a licensing interest in a BJ’s restaurant in Lahaina, Maui, HI. Starbucks Corp. (206-628-2111) is planning to open a 124,000 sq.ft. to 144,000 sq.ft. store at The Oaks Shopping Center, a 1.08 million sq.ft. mall located in Thousand Oaks, CA. Opening is slated for Fall 2006 and is planned for a site currently occupied by Robinsons-May Men’s & Home Store. Nordstrom currently operates 147 locations throughout 27 states. The company operates under the following tradenames: Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack and Facconable, as well as operating a shoe store and clearance store. Pasta Pomodoro, Inc. (415-431-2681) is planning to open a Pomodoro Cucina Italiana at the Newport Coast Shopping Center located at the 21133 Newport Coast Drive in Newport Beach, CA. The company, which operates 32 restaurants along the West Coast, is planning an aggressive southern CA expansion. Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. (330-656-2600) is planning to open 20 stores during fiscal 2004, with the majority of them being superstores. During the first half of fiscal 2004, the company opened nine superstores and two larger traditional stores. The company also converted two larger traditional stores to the superstore format. The company currently operates 494 stores nationwide, including 42 in TX. The company is in the midst of an expansion plan that will include 80 to 85 stores in fiscal 2003. Circuit City Stores, Inc. (804-527-4000) has fully remodeled four locations, opened one store and relocated four stores. The company also is planning to open approximately 10 stores and relocate 16 to 20 stores in the current fiscal year. The company currently operates 612 Circuit City Superstores and 13 mall-based Circuit City Express stores in 159 markets. R.J. Gators (800-Get-Gator) is planning to open a restaurant on Merritt Island, FL and a corporate store at the Indian River Mall in Vero Beach, FL.
