Who's Opening & Where New World Restaurant Group, Inc. (609-631-7000) is planning to open five Einstein Bros stores this month. Overall, the company expects to open approximately 25 Einstein Bros locations this year. The company operates locations primarily under the Einstein Bros and Noah’s New York Bagels brands and primarily franchises locations under the Manhattan Bagel and Chesapeake Bagel Bakery brands. The company currently operates 462 company-operated locations, as well as 249 franchised locations and 28 licensed locations throughout 33 states. Whole Foods Market, Inc. (512-391-8400) is planning to open a 45,770 sq.ft. Whole Foods Market store at the Towne Center at Cedar Lodge in Baton Rouge, LA. The company currently operates 14 stores nationwide and in Canada. Charlie Chiang’s (202-293-6000) is planning to open its ninth location with a 4,000 sq.ft. restaurant at Centrewood Plaza, a center located at the intersection of St. Germaine Drive and Machen Road in Centreville, MD. The center is tenanted by Blockbuster Video, Starbucks Coffee, Popeyes and Shade Tree restaurant. Tire Kingdom (800-423-KING) is planning to open a location at Imperial Bonita Plaza, a 78,000 sq.ft. center located at the intersection of Bonita Beach Road and Imperial Street in Bonita Springs, FL. Opening is slated for Spring 2004. Wal*Mart Stores, Inc. (650-837-5000) is planning to open four Neighborhood Market locations in the Indianapolis, IN area. The stores are slated to open during May or June 2004. Neighborhood Markets typically average spaces of 40,000 sq.ft., carry a full line of food and merchandise and operate a drive-thru pharmacy. By 2005, the company plans on operating six to 10 Neighborhood Market locations throughout the Indianapolis area. Too, Inc. (614-479-3500) is planning to open a new concept geared towards young girls called Justice. The company expects the concept stores to begin opening during early 2004. (513-762-4000) is planning to open a Dillons supermarket in a proposed 154,800 sq.ft. center at the intersection of Kansas 10 and Woodland Road in western Lenexa, KS. Opening for Dillons is slated for next year. Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (336-658-4000) is planning to open a Lowe’s Home Improvement store on Camp Creek Road, at the intersection of U.S. 78 and New Goodman Road, in Olive Branch, TN. Area retail includes a Wal*Mart Supercenter. The company also is planning to open a 160,000 sq.ft. store with a garden center on Faunce Corner Road in Dartmouth, NH. The space was formerly occupied by Ann & Hope building. Opening is slated for Spring 2004. Lowe’s Cos. currently operates 875 stores throughout 45 states. Books-A-Million, Inc. (205-942-3737) is planning to open a 12,586 sq.ft. store at the Colonial Mall in Myrtle Beach, SC. Construction will start in October, with completion slated for May 2004. The company currently operates 202 stores throughout 18 states and Washington, DC. This will be the company’s second store in the Myrtle Beach area. Food Lion (704-633-8250) is planning to open a supermarket near the intersection of State Route 9 and State Route 905 in Longs, SC. Construction on the 28,000 sq.ft. store is expected to begin at the end of the year, with completion slated for mid-2004. The supermarket chain currently operates 1,195 stores nationwide, including 122 stores in SC and 460 stores in NC. Worldwide Restaurant Concepts, Inc. (818-662-9800) is planning to increase its Pat & Oscar’s restaurant concept by 30% to 40% during fiscal 2004. Currently, the company signed leases on three southern CA sites for Pat & Oscar’s, with locations in the Inland Empire area, Orange County and Ventura County. Worldwide Restaurant Concepts, Inc. currently operates 318 Sizzler restaurants worldwide, 111 KFC restaurants, primarily located in Queensland, Australia and 21 Pat & Oscar’s locations. The Cheesecake Factory, Inc. (818-871-3000) opened a 13,300 sq.ft. restaurant at Tyson’s Galleria in McLean, VA. Additionally, the company expects to open another restaurant in Arlington, VA by the end of the year. The space was formerly occupied by Season’s End. The company currently operates 505 locations throughout 32 states.Max’s Grille (561-368-0080) is planning to open as many as two restaurants throughout FL. Sport Clips, Inc. (512-848-6767) is planning to open as many as 100 locations during the coming year. The company currently operates 120 locations throughout 18 states, with stores opening every week. Belk, Inc. (704-357-1000) is planning to open a 74,000 sq.ft. department store at Stirling Mandeville Shopping Center in Mandeville, LA during March 2004. The company currently operates 214 stores throughout 13 Southeastern states. Granite City Food & Brewery Ltd. (952-525-2030) opened an 8,900 sq.ft. restaurant and microbrewery in West Des Moines, IA. The company also is planning to open six additional locations throughout the Midwest by the end of next year. Granite City will be opening a location in Cedar Rapids, IA in November and in Davenport, IA during February 2004. The company also is looking at opening additional sites in KS, MN and NE. The space was formerly occupied by an Ames department store. Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (614-283-6500) is planning to open two Hollister Co. stores in the Orlando, FL area. The first store, a 7,062 sq.ft. location, will be at Altamonte Mall in Altamonte Springs, FL, while the second location will occupy space of 6,269 sq.ft. at West Oaks Mall in west Orlando, FL. Hollister currently operates 125 stores nationally. The May Department Stores, Inc. (314-342-6300) is planning to open 18 David’s Bridal stores this year. The company currently operates 447 department stores under the names of Lord & Taylor, Famous-Barr, Filene’s, Foley’s, Hecht’s, Kaufmann’s, L.S. Ayres, Meier & Frank, Robinsons-May, Strawbridge’s, The Jones Store, David’s Bridal, After Hours Formalwear and Priscilla of Boston throughout 45 states and Washington, DC. |
