Who's Opening & Where Brinker International, Inc. (972-980-9917) is planning to open a 5,992 sq.ft. Chili’s restaurant at Pueblo Crossing, a center located in Pueblo, CO. Opening is slated for Spring 2005. The company currently operates 28 Chili’s restaurants throughout CO. Brinker International operates more than 975 Chili’s locations nationwide. Albertsons, Inc. (208-385-6200) recently acquired the 11-store Bristol Farms chain and debuted a new price-impact format under one of its existing Super Saver banners in the Dallas, TX and Baton Rouge, LA markets. The company is considering both store retrofits and acquisitions of existing retail space in its eventual growth plan for Super Saver price-impact stores. Albertsons operates more than 2,500 stores throughout 37 states under tradenames such as Albertsons, Acme Markets, Bristol Farms, Jewel and Shaw’s. Ann Taylor Loft stores offer their own label of mid-priced apparel, while Ann Taylor Factory Stores offer clearance merchandise. Coldwater Creek (208-263-2266) also is planning to open a store at Towne Center at Cedar Lodge. The upscale retailer sells mostly traditional apparel through several catalogs, a Web site, about 66 full-line retail stores and about 15 outlet stores.
Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. (608-323-3377) is planning to open a 62,000 sq.ft. Ashley Furniture store at the Frederick Shopping Center located in Frederick, MD. The space was formerly occupied by Ames. Ashley Furniture makes and imports upholstered, leather and hardwood furniture, as well as bedding. It has manufacturing plants and distribution centers throughout the country and overseas. The company runs nearly 100 Ashley Furniture HomeStores, independently-owned shops that sell only Ashley Furniture products.
OfficeMax, Inc. (216-471-3441) is planning to open a 20,000 sq.ft. OfficeMax store at The Shops at Greenridge, a 600,000 sq.ft. center located at the intersection of Interstate 85, Interstate 385 and Woodruff Road in Greenville, SC. The company currently operates more than 1,000 stores throughout North America. Ross Stores, Inc. (510-505-4400) is also planning to open a Ross Dress For Less store at The Shops at Greenridge. Ross Stores operates a discount clothing chain with more than 640 outlets. New World Restaurant Group, Inc. (303-568-8000) is opening a new concept called Einstein Bros. Café, which offers a lunch and dinner menu in a sit-down restaurant. The company recently opened its first location in Denver, CO and plans to convert the remaining Einstein Bros. Bagel locations on a market-by-market basis. Anna’s Linens (866-266-2728) is planning to open 185 locations throughout 11 states, with a focus on TX. Lowe’s Cos. (336-658-4000) is planning to open a Lowe’s Home Improvement store at the Tops Plaza on Southwestern Boulevard in Orchard Park, NY. The space was formerly occupied by Kmart. In 2006, the company plans to open approximately 160 stores. The company currently operates more than 930 stores throughout 45 states.
