Real Estate Professionals Making The News Kosmont Cos. (213-623-8484) announced that Richard A. Caplan has joined the company as executive vice president and partner. Caplan recently received recognition for the Topeka Plan, an economic development strategy he prepared for Topeka, KS, which was experiencing stagnant growth. He also provided similar plans for Vail, CO; the Napa Valley in CA; the Precious Moments Theme Park in Carthage, MO and the Hoops Indian Tribe in Eureka, CA. Caplan was formerly a senior administrator in several KS cities and, four five years, was city manager of Vail, CO. The Retail Connection, Inc. (972-250-1543) a real estate services and investment firm was created with exclusive focus on retail. The Retail Connection is led by Steven A. Lieberman, an 18-year retail real estate veteran and former president of The Weitzman Group, and Alan P. Shor, former president and chief operating officer of Zale Corp. Lieberman and Shor will be co-chairmen of the company’s board of directors. The Retail Connection is launching with over dozen real estate professionals, representing chains that include Bed Bath & Beyond, Sports Authority, The Gap, OfficeMax, Famous Footwear, JoAnn’s, Houston’s and Pei Wei Asian Diner.
