Forever 21 (213-747-2121 or 800-966-1355) is planning to open two stores in the Cincinnati, OH area. The first store, at 10,000 sq.ft., is slated to open in the former Funky’s restaurant space next to Kenwood Cinemas at the Kenwood Towne Centre. The company currently operates approximately 145 stores throughout 25 states and Canada.
Home Depot, Inc. (770-433-8211) is planning to open as many as 175 stores during fiscal 2004. The company also plans on opening 14 stores throughout Canada and nine in Mexico. The company currently operates 1,650 stores throughout the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
Walgreen Co. (847-914-2500) is planning to open a store in Whitehall, OH at the intersection of East Main Street and South Hamilton Road. The 14,560 sq.ft. store is slated for a May opening. Overall, the company is planning to operate 7,000 stores by 2010. Two other Walgreens stores are currently under construction in Columbus, while another is planned for the intersection of North High Street and Morse Road.

Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (336-658-4000) is planning to open approximately 140 Lowe’s Home Improvement stores this year, including a location at the intersection of Maple Road and M-5 Expressway in Commerce Township, MI. Opening is slated for Spring 2005. The company currently operates more than 930 stores throughout 45 states.
Target Corp. (612-304-6073) is planning to open as many as 100 stores this year. The company is planning to open a store at the Centre at Glen Burnie located on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, MD during the Fall and a location at Center at Forestville in Forestville, MD during October. The company currently operates approximately 1,550 stores nationwide under various trade names, including Target, Mervyn’s and Marshalls Field’s.

Wendy’s Northeast (610-341-9400) is looking to open restaurants throughout CT, ME, NJ, NY, PA and VA. The restaurants will occupy spaces of 2,800 sq.ft. to 3,300 sq.ft., with a drive-thru. The sites must have at least an average daily traffic count of 18,000 vehicles. Preferred demographics include a population of 30,000 within three miles.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries (703-751-6844) completed a franchise agreement to open five locations throughout Sussex County, DE and Ocean Pines, MD and will open its first restaurant within a year.
Figaro’s Italian Pizza, Inc. (503-371-9318) is planning to open 161 restaurants throughout AZ during the coming 10 years, bringing the company’s nationwide total to more than 1,000 locations. The company also is planning to open 75 stores throughout UT during the coming 10 years.
Cabela’s, Inc. (308-254-5505) is planning to open stores in Hanover County and Fredricksburg, VA. The company also plans to open a distribution center during April and a store in Wheeling, WV during August. The company currently operates nine stores, which average more than 150,000 sq.ft. The stores in MI and PA are the largest at 225,000 sq.ft.
Camille’s Sidewalk Café (918-488-9727) completed a deal with DHS, LLC to open nine restaurants in Wake, Durham, Johnston and Orange Counties of NC. The first restaurant is slated to open within a year.
Captain D’s Seafood (615-391-5461) completed seven new franchise agreements. Serve Holdings will develop 15 stores and take control of 20 company-owned restaurants in Memphis, TN; Nautical Treasures will build eight stores in Toledo, OH; Seahorse Group will open three stores in Atlanta, GA; Popeyes franchisee David Chunn will open four stores in Hattiesburg, MS; Subway franchisee Ashraf Boulos expects to open the company’s first two TX locations, while one store will open in Dahlonega, GA.
Taco Del Mar (206-624-7060) is planning to open 10 locations throughout AZ by the end of 2004. Additional deals have been completed for ID, MT, OR, UT and WY.
Max & Erma’s Restaurants, Inc. (614-431-5800) is planning to open four to five company-owned restaurants and five to seven franchised restaurants this year.
Sendik’s Food Market (414-962-9525) is planning to open a store in Mequon, WI at a space formerly occupied by Jewel Supermarket. Opening is slated for the Spring. The 46,000 sq.ft. store, which is in Mequon Pavilion Shopping Center, will include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, a meat counter that offers custom cuts and a deli.
Darden Restaurants, Inc. (407-245-5366) is planning to open a 10,080 sq.ft. restaurant on Route 31 in Clay, NY. The company currently operates another restaurant in Colonie, NY. Darden Restaurants currently operates more than 1,200 restaurants nationwide.
Cardsmart (877-227-3762) is looking to open stores ranging from 2,000 sq.ft. to 4,000 sq.ft. in areas with a population of 40,000 within three miles earning $25,000 to $70,000 as the average household income. The company prefers to cotenant with two major anchors in centers with a GLA exceeding 100,000 sq.ft.
J. Jill Group, Inc. (617-376-4300) is planning to open a store at the Mall at Green Hills in Nashville, TN. The 3,350 sq.ft. store will be the company’s 96th location. There is currently one other store in TN at Saddle Creek Shopping Center in Germantown, near Memphis. The Nashville store is slated to open during July. Overall, the company is expecting to open up to 40 locations nationwide.
