Who's Opening & Where Bebe Stores, Inc. (415-715-3900) is planning to open 20 Bebe stores during fiscal 2005. Depending upon the performance of the existing Bebe Sport locations and the overall retail environment, the company may open additional locations in fiscal 2005 and fiscal 2006. Linens ‘n Things, Inc. (973-778-1300) is planning to open approximately 45 to 50 stores throughout the U.S. and Canada this year. The company currently operates 461 stores throughout 45 states nationwide and in five provinces throughout Canada. The company sells bedding, towels, housewares and other home accessories, such as bath items and window treatments.
Panera Bread (314-633-7100) and franchisee Bread of the World, LLC are looking to open three restaurants throughout OH this year. The company currently operates more than 600 bakery/cafes throughout 35 states. Its locations, which operate under the Panera and Saint Louis Bread Company banners, offer made-to-order sandwiches built using a variety of artisan breads.
Hooters (770-951-2040) opened a Largo Beach location in Nashville, TN. The restaurant is located next to the company’s Hooters restaurant on Largo Drive. The concept will feature an outdoor sand volleyball court, live music, a tiki hut and a shark tank behind the bar. The restaurant has a menu consisting of tacos, seafood and burgers, as well as a full bar with frozen drinks. The franchisee, RMD Corp., owns and operates more than 40 restaurants throughout IL, IN, KY, OH and TN.
Gander Mountain (952-830-8700) is planning to open a store at the intersection of Miller and Linden Roads in Flint Township, MI. The company currently operates approximately 65 outdoor sporting-goods stores focused on hunting, camping, and fishing in nine mainly Midwestern states. In addition to outdoor equipment and related accessories, the stores also sell apparel and footwear, as well as all terrain vehicles and gear.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc. (303-846-6000) is planning to open about 12 restaurants throughout MI during the coming few years. Possible locations include Livonia, Flint Township, Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Rochester Hills, Jackson and Kalamazoo. The company currently operates approximately 200 restaurants nationwide and in Canada.
CEC Entertainment (972-258-8507) is planning to open a Chuck E. Cheese location at the Birchwood Mall in Fort Gratiot, MI. The space was formerly occupied by Tilt Arcade. The restaurant, which features pizza, games, music and entertainment by life-size animal characters, also will lease two vacant spots in the food court. The Birchwood Mall location will be the 19th Chuck E. Cheese in MI and one of about 30 restaurants to open this year. Bass Pro Shops (417-873-5000) is planning to open an outdoor supercenter at the intersection of Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 78 in Leeds, AL. Tentative plans for the store include two stories. The company also is looking to open a store in Spanish Fort, AL and overall is planning to open stores in Auburn, NY; Myrtle Beach, SC; Columbia, MO; Las Vegas, NV; Harrisburg, PA and Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The company currently operates approximately 20 Outdoor World stores throughout 13 states. Typical stores average 280,000 sq.ft. and sell boats, campers, equipment and apparel for most outdoor activities and offer features such as archery ranges, fish tanks, snack bars and video arcades.
Cato Corp. (704-554-8510) is planning to open 90 stores, relocate 27 stores and close 10 stores. In addition, the company plans to remodel 15 stores. The company currently operates approximately 1,025 women’s apparel specialty stores under the names Cato, Cato Plus, It’s Fashion! and Cato Fashions. The company currently operates approximately 315 stores offering current, brand-name clothing at less than the standard retail price. The company operates under such names as Burlington Coat Factory, Baby Depot, Cohoes Fashions, Luxury Linens, MJM Designer Shoes and Totally 4 Kids in more than 40 states.
Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (336-658-4000) is planning to open 140 stores nationwide this year and 150 stores during fiscal 2005. The company currently operates approximately 950 stores throughout 45 states. In FL, the company operates 61 stores and has seven stores and distribution centers under construction.
Coldwater Creek (208-263-2266) is planning to open a 3,990 sq.ft. store at Acadiana Mall in Lafayette, LA. The company sells mostly traditional apparel through several catalogs, a website, and approximately 45 full-line retail stores and about 15 outlets throughout 41 states. Acadiana Mall is a 1,065,900 sq.ft. super-regional center anchored by Dillard’s, JCPenney, Sears and Foley’s with over 120 specialty stores.
Hollywood Entertainment Corp. (503-570-1600) is planning to open 150 Hollywood Video stores this year. The company currently operates approximately 1,900 Hollywood Video rental superstores throughout 47 states and Washington, DC.
