Who's Opening & Where


Brookstone, Inc. (603-880-9500) is planning to open a 5,000 sq.ft. Brookstone store at the Mall of Acadiana located in Lafayette, LA this Fall. It will be the company’s fourth store throughout LA. The company also operates locations in Metairie, Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Brookstone is a national specialty retailer offering products such as lawn and garden, health and fitness, home and office and travel and auto accessories. The company currently operates 248 stores throughout 39 states and Washington, DC.

 

Babystyle (323-874-4073) is planning to open a store at the Westfield Shoppingtown Fashion Square located on Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks, CA this month. The company currently operates six locations. The stores offer maternity and clothing.

 

Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Inc. (510-594-2100) is planning to open a 1,710 sq.ft. Peet’s Coffee & Tea store in Bel Aire Plaza in Napa, CA. The company currently operates approximately 80 coffee shops throughout seven states. Most of the company’s outlets are located in CA, while others can be found in CO, IL, MA, OR, TX and WA.

 

Morton’s Restaurant Group, Inc. (516-627-1515) is planning to open five Morton’s steakhouses in the following locations: Chicago, IL; Atlantic City, NJ; Charlotte, NC; Bethesda, MD and Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Chicago restaurant will be located on East Wacker Place and will be the fifth location throughout the Chicago area. The Fort Lauderdale restaurant will be located at the Las Olas River House and will be the seventh location throughout FL. The Atlantic City restaurant will be located at the front entrance of Caesar’s Hotel and Casino. The Charlotte restaurant will be located at the SouthPark Mall, while the Bethesda restaurant will be in the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The company currently operates 70 restaurants throughout the U.S., Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong.

 

Total Entertainment Restaurant Corp. (316-634-0505) opened an 8,800 sq.ft. Fox and Hound and Bailey’s restaurant in Bloomingdale, IL. This is the company’s fourth Fox & Hound restaurant in the Chicago, IL market and marks the ninth restaurant opened during the fiscal year. The company currently operates 73 restaurants under the Fox and Hound and Bailey’s tradenames.

 

National Book Warehouse (865-558-8187) acquired 10 Publisher Warehouse stores throughout seven states. Stores added through the acquisition are in Warrenton, MO; Lake Elsinore and Tulare, CA; Conroe, TX; West Branch, MI; Locust Grove, GA; Branson, MO; Destin, FL; Laughlin, NV and Howell, MI. The company currently operates 126 stores throughout 38 states, trading as The Book Market and Foozles.

 

Moe’s Southwest Grill (404-442-8332) is planning to open approximately 30 franchises throughout NY during the coming year. Moe’s Southwest Grill operates a chain of more than 150 quick-service eateries throughout about 20 states. Nearly all of the company’s restaurants are operated by franchisees.

 

Cold Stone Creamery (480-348-1704) is planning to open 32 stores throughout NC during the coming three to five years. Cold Stone has already opened six stores throughout the state this year, with plans for an additional five to open by year’s end. The company currently operates 750 stores nationwide.

 

Texas Roadhouse, Inc. (502-426-9984) is planning to open a Texas Roadhouse restaurant at the Glenbrook Shopping Center in Hendersonville, TN during December. Texas Roadhouse has a Southwestern theme and offers a menu of hand-cut steaks, ribs, chicken and seafood. The company currently operates more than 160 company-owned and franchised locations throughout more than 30 states. Texas Roadhouse operates TN locations in Alcoa, Chattanooga, Gatlinburg, Johnson City, Kingsport, Knoxville and Sevierville, while further locations are being planned for middle TN.

 

Qdoba Restaurant Corp. (303-629-5000) is planning to open restaurants in Salem, Eugene, Bend, and the Portland area in OR and in Vancouver, WA. Odoba is a subsidiary of Jack In The Box, Inc. Franchisees Stan Kramer and Steve McPhie, together with partner Todd McDermott, will head the OR expansion. They have committed to opening 14 stores altogether. A second store is slated to open in the Streets of Tanasbourne lifestyle center in Hillsboro, OR next month. The company currently operates more than 160 restaurants throughout 20 states.

 

The Krystal Co. (423-757-1550) is planning to open 18 restaurants throughout TX during the coming four years. The first of the Krystal restaurants are set to debut in Dallas and Houston during November, followed by Austin during early 2005. The Krystal Company operates more than 430 restaurants throughout almost a dozen southern states. The company owns and operates nearly 250 of its locations; the rest are franchised. Krystal specializes in selling small, square hamburgers.

 

Tuesday Morning Corp. (972-387-3562) is planning to open a 7,000 sq.ft. Tuesday Morning store at the Grand Island Mall in Grand Island, NE. Opening is slated for early next month. The company operates more than 575 stores throughout 42 states.

 

Barney’s New York, Inc. (212-339-7300) is planning to open a 7,000 sq.ft. Barneys New York Co-Op store at Phipps Plaza in Atlanta, GA during Spring 2005. It will be the company’s first store in Atlanta. The location will be across from Tiffany’s. The company currently operates flagship stores in New York, NY; Beverly Hills, CA and Chicago, IL.

 

Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Inc. (410-239-2700) is planning to open approximately 40 stores during the second half of the fiscal year. These 40 stores include up to 25 stores opening during the third quarter. Overall, the company plans to grow the chain to approximately 500 stores during the coming three to four years. Currently, Jos. A. Bank sells its clothes in 238 stores throughout 36 states and Washington, DC.

 

Leggiadro (212-997-8766) is planning to open a 2,500 sq.ft. store at the Americana Manhasset Shopping Center located in Manhasset, NY. The retailer, which sells its own line of womenswear, committed for a 10-year lease for the space that formerly housed Origins. Opening is slated for Spring 2005. Area retail includes Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Escada, Hermes, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Ralph Lauren and Donna Karan.

 

Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Inc. (410-239-2700) opened a store at the Streets at Southpoint Mall in Durham, NC. The store is located on the outdoor mall section. The company currently operates 210 stores throughout 35 states and Washington, DC.

 

Petco, Inc. (858-453-7845) opened a Petco store in Boardman, OH. It was the company’s 700th location. The first northeastern OH store will be followed with openings this month in Canton and Mentor, OH, as Petco completes conversions of former Kids “R” Us stores. Each of the three stores will feature the company’s “Pisces” store design, centered around an aquatics section and a racetrack walkway that showcases all of the company’s animal care and product departments. The openings will double the company’s presence in OH to a total of eight stores. Overall, Petco is planning to expand to 50 stores throughout the state during the coming several years. The company currently operates approximately 700 stores throughout 45 states and Washington, DC.

 

Office Depot, Inc. (561-438-4800) is planning to open as many as 40 Office Depot stores throughout the Northeast by the end of the year. The company will concentrate on increasing its presence throughout New England, NJ, NY; Philadelphia, PA and the Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC areas. Office Depot operates more than 1,000 company-owned and licensed stores worldwide, with about 900 located in the U.S.

 

Circuit City Stores, Inc. (804-527-4000) is planning to open approximately 30 stores during the third quarter this year, as well as 16 during the fourth quarter. The company currently operates 604 superstores and five mall-based stores throughout 158 U.S. markets. The international segment operated through 1,016 retail stores and dealer outlets in Canada.

 

Home Depot, Inc. (770-433-8211) is planning to open a Home Depot store on Nashville Pike in Gallatin, TN. The store is part of a planned 60-acre development. The company also is looking to open a store in Hendersonville, TN. Home Depot currently operates approximately 1,750 stores throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The company also runs more than 50 EXPO Design Center stores with showrooms featuring bath, kitchen and lighting products.

 

Wendy’s International, Inc. (614-764-3100) is planning to open a Wendy’s restaurant at the intersection of Kilauea and Wai’alae Avenues in Kahala, HI. Opening is slated for late next year. The space was formerly occupied by a Chevron gas station. The company currently operates 6,535 restaurants worldwide.

 

Coach, Inc. (212-594-1850) is planning to open 20 stores throughout the U.S. yearly. Overall, the company plans to be operating 350 stores nationwide. The company plans to enter new markets next year, including locations in Annapolis, MD; Des Moines, IA; Sarasota, FL and Syracuse, NY. The company also is opening a Beverly Hills, CA flagship store on Rodeo Drive next year. Coach also is planning to expand existing stores in Copley Place in Boston, MA; Costa Mesa, CA and seven other markets.

 

Retail Ventures, Inc. (614-471-4722) recently opened a 25,000 sq.ft. DSW Shoe Warehouse store at the Eastgate Pavilion located on Eastgate South Drive in Cincinnati, OH. The company currently operates DSW locations throughout the Cincinnati area at Rookwood Commons, Springdale Plaza and in the Fields Ertel Road area. The company currently operates 161 stores throughout 61 markets in the U.S. Retail Ventures also operates Value City Department Stores with more than 100 outlets primarily in IL, OH and PA.

 

Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc. (314-423-8000) is planning to open 13 Build-A-Bear locations this year and 25 to 30 during 2005. The company currently operates 162 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada and hopes to grow to 350 stores. The company also is planning to open Friends 2B Made stores, which allow customers to make their own dolls.

 

The Leather Factory, Inc. (817-817-496-4414) is planning to open Tandy Leather stores in Richmond, VA and Detroit, MI this month. Those openings will bring the total of Tandy Leather stores to 38, 12 of which opened this year. The company makes and distributes leather goods and related products, such as leatherworking tools, buckles and belt supplies, leather dyes, saddle and tack hardware, do-it-yourself craft kits, suede lace, western-hat trim and fringe.

 

Food Lion, Inc. (704-633-8250) is planning to open Bloom, A Food Lion Market locations throughout the Charlotte, NC area this month. The stores typically range from 34,000 sq.ft. to 38,000 sq.ft. The main difference between Bloom and Food Lion is that Bloom offers more organic and natural products and more home meal solutions. The stores offer a Table Top Circle, which offers customers a way to find basic items like bread, eggs, beer, soda and ready-to-eat meals quickly. The stores also have a section called Nature’s Choice, a store-within-a-store section that features low-fat, low-sodium and low-carb and natural foods. Food Lion currently operates approximately 1,200 stores throughout 11 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.
