Real Estate Professional Making The News Noddle Cos. (402-496-1616) appointed Robert B. Slechta to national director of leasing and sales. Slechta’s duties will include the supervision of real estate sales and leasing activities for its corporate and brokerage network. He will develop and implement asset analysis, marketing, sales and leasing, and reporting functions within the company’s portfolio. Slechta will also assist in the development of new business and corporate services at industry-related conferences. Slechta has extensive experience in the real estate industry, which includes development, leasing, management and redevelopment responsibilities over the past 20 years.
Casto (614-744-3446) announced executive vice president James J. Cunningham will oversee the company’s commercial property management operations. In addition to continuing to manage the performance of Casto’s residential portfolio, Cunningham is now responsible for nearly 19 million sq.ft. of commercial properties throughout FL and OH. Cunningham joined the Casto organization in 2002. In 2005, he established CCMI Realty, Inc., Casto’s new residential real estate sales division, for which he is a broker of record. Prior to joining Casto, Cunningham served as senior vice president for Triangle Real Estate Services of Westerville, OH.
NVRetail (703-356-8230) hired Jack Waghorn as president. Waghorn was hired to oversee the firm’s renewed involvement in the development and leasing of retail properties in the Mid-Atlantic marketplace. Waghorn will be responsible for the overall operations of the firm, including development and marketing; negotiation of land acquisition contracts and major leases; oversight of engineering and design matters; and the management and disposition of properties. Prior to joining NVRetail, Waghorn was with Zimmer Development Co., where he completed the development of several supermarket-anchored retail centers in a period of five years. Before that, he served as vice president of development at First Washington Realty Trust. In the mid 1990s, Waghorn was with NVCommercial, a sister company to NVRetail, where he was responsible for the leasing and management of several retail centers.
Kaplan Real Estate Co., Inc. (314-652-7000) hired Bruce Edwards as vice president of construction services. Edwards previously worked for Jacobs Engineering, where he was a manager within their construction division. The company also hired Jeff Lenk as controller. Lenk previously worked for the city of O’Fallon, MO, where he was a budget and operations manager.
CNL Financial Group (407-540-2505) is planning to expand its development arm, CNL Realty & Development, doubling its staff and broadening its scope to become a full-service real estate development company focused on markets in the southeastern U.S. The company recently appointed Timothy Edmond to president of the CNL Realty. Edmond is the former president of St. Joe/Arvida Company’s development team in northwest FL.
Capital Real Estate Investments, Inc. (858-200-9401) recruited Colby Haugness as senior vice president of brokerage. Prior to joining CREI, Haugness worked for Net Leased Retail Properties and Marcus Millichap, in which he has sold over $300 million in retail investment real estate.
The Macerich Co. (310-394-6000) promoted Stephen L. Spector from senior vice president and associate general counsel to senior vice president and general counsel. Spector, who is based out of the company’s Santa Monica, CA corporate office, has over 20 years of experience in the legal profession. Prior to joining Macerich, he worked for over five years at Los Angeles, CA-based law firms specializing in real estate, corporate and securities law matters.
Empire Commercial Real Estate (909-987-7788) hired John Rodrigue to its management team as project director. In this capacity, Rodrigue will be responsible for managing all aspects of development, including land planning, entitlement, design, financing, leasing and construction. Rodrigue held posts at Voit Commercial Brokerage, Sempra Energy and most recently with RREEF Real Estate Investment Managers. He served as district manager for RREEF, where he was responsible for more than $390 million in assets in both Los Angeles and Orange County, CA, including a portfolio of 3.8 million sq.ft. and 330 tenants. He also supervised large-scale construction projects and negotiated lease transactions worth more than $72 million and 1.6 million sq.ft. |
