The Macerich Co. (301-394-6000) has launched a new, luxury shopping center division called Lumenati for the development and redevelopment of select properties that will offer upscale retailers and services. Macerich has set apart eight Macerich/Westcor centers to come under the Lumenati division. In AZ, the centers include Scottsdale Fashion Square in Scottsdale and Biltmore Fashion Park in Phoenix and La Encantada in Tucson. In CA, the centers include The Oaks in Thousand Oaks, CA; Carmel Plaza in Carmel; Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek; The Village at Corte Madera in Corte Madera and Santa Monica Place in Santa Monica. The centers represent 15% of Macerich’s GLA.

 

Coldwell Banker Commercial REP (877-915-3297) an affiliate of Real Estate Partners, Inc. announced that the Hanley Brown Group has joined with its company to launch its new retail investment division. The Hanley Brown Group Real Estate Advisors specializes in the sale of $1 million to $15 million centers. The company is headed by industry veterans Edward B. Hanley and Gregory S. Brown. 


NewQuest Properties (281-477-4300) hired Rene Joubert as its president and CEO. Joubert was formerly executive vice president and managing director of Northmarq Capital. For 16 years at Northmarq, Joubert was actively involved in the financing of many NewQuest properties and acquisitions. Additionally, Joubert was involved in the leadership of Northmarq, which has 28 offices and 450 employees nationwide.

 

Coldwell Banker Commercial CRA, LLC (314-206-4600) hired Michael A. Zangara a sales and leasing associate. Zangara will be responsible for locating, facilitating and negotiating the purchase or lease of all types of properties. Previously, Zangara was a sales representative and manager with Vector Marketing, Inc. in New York, NY. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Missouri Association of Realtors and is the founder of PAF Investment Group.

 

Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. (212-841-7500) hired C. Bradley Mendelson and David A. Green. Mendelson, who started his career at Insignia/ESG in 1997, became an executive vice president for CB Richard Ellis when those two firms merged last year. Green started at Insignia/ESG in 1991. The two were co-recipients of the Real Estate Board of New York’s Most Creative Retail Deal in 2000 for the 105,000 sq.ft. Toys “R” Us store in Times Square in Manhattan. Mendelson and Green’s move comes one month after Susan Kurland made the opposite move, jumping from Cushman & Wakefield to CB Richard Ellis.

 

Fameco Real Estate (610-834-8000) hired Kathleen Hawley as a real estate broker. She has represented tenants such as McDonald’s, Petco, Rite Aid, Burlington Coat Factory, A.C. Moore, The Wiz, TJX Companies, Sterns and Walgreens. Hawley previously worked for McDonald’s Corp., Levin Management, Mark Centers Trust and Fidelity Land Management.

 

NewMark Merrill Cos. (818-710-6100) hired Marina Rossi as acquisitions director. She will be responsible for raw land acquisitions and property development in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura and San Diego counties. She will also assist with identifying opportunities in Las Vegas, NV.
