Who's Opening & Where Buffalo Wild Wings, Inc. (952-593-9943) is planning to open 14 locations this year. The company is focusing on 6,000 sq.ft. sites, which is approximately 400 sq.ft. larger than the typical location. The extra space accommodates a larger back of the house and more flexible seating such as moveable tables and chairs. The company currently operates more than 220 Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar restaurants throughout 30 states specializing in Buffalo-style chicken wings, as well as appetizers, burgers, salads and desserts. The company owns and operates more than 75 of the restaurants, while the rest are operated by franchisees. U.S. Factory Outlets, Inc. (212-563-3650) opened a 40,000 sq.ft. U.S. Factory Outlets store in St. Ann, MO.
Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc. (724-273-3400) is planning to open 25 stores this year, while closing six locations. Dick’s Sporting Goods currently operates approximately 235 stores throughout 33 states, following the acquisition of rival Galyan’s in mid-2004. The stores contain, on average, five smaller shops featuring sporting goods, apparel, and footwear for leisure pursuits ranging from football, golf, and cycling, to hunting and camping.
American Dry Cleaning Centers, Inc. (800-949-6016) is planning to open a location in Champaign, IL. The company also is looking to open stores at the following locations: Vero Beach and Boca Raton, FL; San Antonio, TX; Ellisville, MS and New York, NY.
Mothers Work, Inc. (215-873-2200) is planning to open approximately 30 Mothers Work stores during the year, including approximately 13 new multi-brand planned stores. Mothers Work offers mid-priced to high-end career, casual, and special occasion maternity apparel through its four chains, including A Pea in the Pod, Mimi Maternity, Motherhood Maternity and Motherhood Maternity Outlet. Harkins Theatres (480-627-7777) is planning to open a movie theater at Crossroads Towne Center located at the intersection of Gilbert and Germann Roads in Gilbert, AZ. The Harkins Theatres 16-screen megaplex will be part of the second phase. Construction is slated to begin later this year.

The company currently operates approximately 520 department stores, mainly in rural towns throughout 27 U.S. states. Through its Stage, Bealls, Palais Royal and Peebles stores, the company offers moderately-priced apparel, cosmetics, gifts and footwear.
Petco Animal Supplies Stores, Inc. (858-453-7845) is planning to open approximately 90 Petco stores and remodel 50 locations this year. The company currently operates approximately 260 stores throughout about 30 states and sells women’s, men’s and children’s brand-name clothing at discount prices. Fashions range from casual to formal wear. Its stores also sell jewelry, bed and bath linens and gift items.
BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. (714-848-3747) is planning to open as many as eight restaurants during fiscal 2005. The company currently operates 37 casual-dining restaurants under the BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery, BJ’s Restaurants and Brewhouse and BJ’s Pizza & Grill brandnames. The company currently operates 26 restaurants throughout CA; five throughout TX; three in OR and one each in AZ, CO and NV. The company also has a licensing interest in a BJ’s restaurant in Lahaina, Maui, HI. The company owns and operates more than 90 eclectic Cosí cafés throughout nearly 20 states offering premium and specialty coffees and made-to-order sandwiches. Its menu also features breakfast items, including salads, soups and desserts. Cosi also offers delivery and catering services and operates a handful of coffee kiosks in Macy’s department stores.
The Steak n Shake Co. (317-633-4100) is planning to open approximately 18 to 24 company-owned restaurants during fiscal 2005 and at least 26 company-owned restaurants in fiscal 2006. The company currently operates and franchises more than 425 Steak n Shake restaurants throughout approximately 20 states in the Midwest and Southeast. The full-service chain’s menu features its steakburgers and milkshakes, as well as fries, chicken sandwiches and chili. About 60 units are operated by franchisees, while the rest are company-owned.
IKEA (610-834-0180) is planning to open a store in Canton Township, MI. Opening is slated for summer 2006. The store will be the company’s 28th in the U.S. and fourth in the upper Midwest, joining stores in Schaumberg, IL; Bloomington, MN and Bolingbrook, IL. The Canton store will feature four model homes, 50 room settings, a supervised children’s play area, as well as a 250-seat restaurant serving Swedish specialties and American dishes. IKEA currently operates 210 stores throughout 32 countries. Other stores slated to open in the U.S. this year include locations in Atlanta, GA; Brooklyn, NY; Dublin and West Sacramento, CA; Frisco, TX; and Somerville and Stoughton, MA.
Shoe Carnival, Inc. (812-867-6471) is planning to open 12 to 14 stores during fiscal 2005. The company currently operates more than 250 footwear stores throughout the South and Midwest. Shoe Carnival sells brand-name and private-label men’s, women’s, children’s and athletic footwear. It has been adding about 30 stores annually.
Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (614-283-6500) is planning to open flagship stores in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA, as well as 60 Hollister stores. In addition, the company plans to convert approximately five Abercrombie & Fitch and five abercrombie kids stores into Hollister stores during fiscal 2005. The company also expects to open approximately seven RUEHL stores by the end of fiscal 2005 and has signed leases for six Canadian locations during the quarter, including three Abercrombie & Fitch and three Hollister stores expected to open later this year of early 2006. Abercrombie & Fitch sells upscale men’s, women’s, and kids’ casual clothes and accessories. The company operates approximately 790 U.S. stores, mostly in malls. Its newest format, RUEHL, is a Greenwich Village-inspired concept for the post-collegiate set.
