Real Estate Professionals Making the News Borelli Investment Co. (408-453-4700) promoted Tom Purtell to chief operating officer. Previously assistant controller and director of information technology for the firm, Purtell will now oversee all day-to-day operations for Borelli. Purtell first joined the company’s accounting department in 1995. His responsibilities soon expanded to include creation and management of technology systems, including Borelli’s first web site and email system, property management responsibilities and project development. Most recently, Purtell developed the company’s Junction Office Center, a 77,400 sq.ft. condominium project currently for sale in the Golden Triangle area of San Jose, CA. Before joining Borelli, Purtell was involved in the start-up of Hollywood Video, opening several stores in OR and establishing a presence in northern CA with the opening of 11 stores. Borelli provides a wide range of services for commercial real estate, including property management, sales and leasing, land sales and repositioning, syndicated real estate investments, property development, construction management, asset management and court-appointed receiverships.
Johnson Capital (949-660-1999) added eight employees and four offices to its roster. The growth is the result of the company’s expansion of services, including a small balance group that specializes in nationwide commercial lending under $5 million, formally named Johnson Capital Express. The new employees include Rick Hayward (San Jose), Bob Taylor (Utah), Paul Magote (new Dallas, TX office), Rolf Abt (Denver), Kristen Korbacher (Irvine, CA) and the Johnson Capital Express group of Don Sonsma, Christine Larez and Nick Abbott. The new offices are located in Dallas, TX; Salt Lake City, UT and Valencia and Newport Beach, CA.
Combined Properties, Inc. (202-736-2813) announced that Jeff Mindes has joined the company as vice president of mixed-use construction. He brings over a decade of commercial construction experience to the company. Mindes comes to the company after seven years with CIM Group, Inc. He coordinated the design, development, pre-construction and various CIM projects, including urban and mixed-use projects. Prior to working with CIM, Mindes worked at Charles Pankow Builders completing the construction of various commercial projects.
Coldwell Banker Commercial (800-222-2162) has named Linda Merkel as director of brokerage and marketing administration. In her new position, Merkel will be responsible for training and supervising brokerage administrative support personnel, training on all brokerage processes and technology resources and serving as the point person for all information from the national Coldwell Banker Commercial office. In her marketing role, Merkel handles the development and implementation of the overall marketing strategy for the company. She also manages and coordinates the use of all national Coldwell Banker Commercial marketing tools. Merkel has more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience. |
