PWS-The Laundry Co. (650-871-0300) is planning to expand into TX. The company was granted the additional territories by The Dexter Co. of IA. PWS-The Laundry Co.’s PWS-Houston branch will support an area that includes all of south TX. The expansion includes San Antonio, Austin, Laredo and Corpus Christi. PWS-The Laundry Co. is the nation’s largest and oldest distributor of commercial laundry equipment and developer of new coin and card laundry stores. The company’s store brands include SpinCycle, Lucy’s, LaundryMart, Launderland and Sudz. PWS-The Laundry Co. has offices in AZ, CA, NM, NV and TX.

Recreational Equipment, Inc. (253-395-3780) is planning to open a 20,000 sq.ft. REI store in the University Village in Marina, CA. REI operates 83 stores in 27 states, including 22 stores in CA. Most recently, the company opened a store in Fresno, CA.

EZCorp, Inc. (512-314-3400) is planning to open approximately 100 EZMoney stores during fiscal year 2007. In fiscal year 2006, the company opened 100 stores, including 46 in the fourth quarter. At its 334 EZMoney locations, the company offers short-term, non-collateralized loans or fee-based credit services to customers seeking loans.

Robinson Webster Holdings, Ltd. (310-271-7988) is planning to open Jigsaw stores on the East Coast and in the Midwest. Based in London, the company recently expanded in CA with a 3,000 sq.ft. flagship store on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. In September, the company opened a 2,000 sq.ft. store on Fillmore Street in San Francisco. The company operates two other locations in Los Angeles, CA at the Paseo Colorado Mall in Pasadena and at the Brentwood Country Mart in Brentwood. Jigsaw is a women’s apparel chain known for its reinterpreted classic designs. The company operates 47 stores in the U.K.

Global Fitness Holdings, LLC (502-499-6266 or 502-933-GOLD) is planning to open four Gold’s Gym locations in Louisville, KY. The company is in lease negotiations for three of the four properties. Global Fitness Holdings, LLC will be doing new construction and renovation to existing buildings, which range from 45,000 sq.ft. to 60,000 sq.ft. A location at a former Winn-Dixie at the intersection of Taylorsville Road and Hurstbourne Parkway will be the first to open and its debut is scheduled for May 2007. The company currently operates three Gold’s Gym locations in Louisville, KY.

FedEx Kinko’s (901-369-3600) is planning to open 2,000 stores nationally during the next five years, including 50 in the metro Atlanta, GA area. The company began its national expansion in June and has opened 43 stores with seven more in the immediate plans or under construction in the metro Atlanta area. The company has 39 stores in the area, competing with The UPS Store, which operates 149 stores in the Atlanta market.

Texas Roadhouse, Inc. (1-800-TEX-ROAD) is planning to open 28 to 30 company-owned locations and two to four franchised locations in 2007, with a goal of 2% to 3% in restaurant sales growth. Texas Roadhouse is a casual dining concept that first opened in 1993 and now operates 242 restaurants in 43 states.

The Great American Food Chain, Inc. (214-880-0275) is planning to open 11 Kokopelli Fresh Mexican Grill locations in NV. The most recently opened unit opened in Reno on South Virginia Street. Eight area developers have committed to opening 70 locations during the next three years. The Great American Food Chain, Inc. acquired a 90% interest in Kokopelli Franchise Co., LLC during August and now owns the Kokopelli Fresh Mexican Grill concept as well as Spikes Boneyard Grill.

Squeeze Fresh Smoothies (303-799-5112) is planning to open 75 stores in AZ and CA during the next seven years. The company has 767,483 franchises nationally. The stores offer smoothies blended with natural juice and fruit, with no sugar added. The smoothies contain three to four servings of fruit.

IKEA Property, Inc. (610-834-0180) is planning to open an IKEA store in Draper, UT during Spring 2007. The 310,000 sq.ft. store at the intersection of Pony Express Drive, Interstate 15 and Bangerter Highway will be the company’s first location in the Mountain West. The company operates more than 240 stores in 34 countries, including 28 in the U.S. where the company plans to open three to five stores annually. IKEA Property, Inc. is planning to open U.S. stores in Brooklyn, NY; Dublin, CA; Orlando, FL; Portland, OR; Round Rock, TX; Somerville, MA; Sunrise, FL and West Chester, OH.

Lucy (503-228-2142) is planning to open stores throughout the East Coast in 2007. Specializing in women’s active wear, the company currently operates three stores in Washington, DC and opened store at Fairfax Corner in Fairfax, VA last month. There are 38 lucy stores in AZ, CA, CO, IL, MD, OR, TX, VA, WA and Washington, DC.

Panda Restaurant Group (626-799-9898) is planning to open nine Panda Express locations in Sacramento, CA during the next two years, including six next year. The company recently opened its 32nd location in Sacramento, CA on Watt Avenue. The company operates 888 locations in 36 states with a chain of concepts including Panda Express, Panda Inn and Hibachi-San.

Spicy Pickle Franchising (303-297-1902) is planning to open Spicy Pickle stores nationwide. The company, formed in 2003 in Denver, CO to bring the local sandwich shop nationwide, has opened 15 locations in five states. The restaurants offer a choice of 10 different cheeses, 21 different toppings and 15 proprietary spreads to create panini and sub sandwiches. The restaurants have more than 17,000 sandwich combinations, along with eight specialty panini sandwiches.

New York Burger Co. (212-254-2727) is planning to open 200 locations during the coming years as the company launches its franchise this fall and winter. The company currently operates two locations in New York City, NY; a flagship location on Park Avenue South and another store on Sixth Avenue. The restaurant offers all-natural beef burgers as well as turkey burgers, grilled chicken, homemade chilis, homemade veggie burgers and assorted salads.

Eastern Mountain Sports, Inc. (603-924-9571) is planning to open or relocate eight stores in 2007, three of which will be in the Mid-Atlantic area. This month, the company opened a 17,000 sq.ft. store in Newark, DE and a 14,000 sq.ft. store in Nanuet, NY. Eastern Mountain Sports designs and sells products for outdoor adventurers who participate in a variety of sports including climbing, backpacking, mountain biking, kayaking, camping, hiking, trail running, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and adventure racing.

True Religion Apparel, Inc. (323-266-3072) is planning to open seven stores in 2007 as part of its goal of opening 40 to 50 stores during the next three to four years. The company signed two lease agreements last month to open stores in Short Hills, NJ at the The Mall at Short Hills and Oyster Bay, NY in a mall currently in development. The company also is planning to open a second store in the Los Angeles, CA area this month, one in New York City, NY next month and one in Miami, FL during January. True Religion Apparel, Inc. designs, manufacturers and markets True Religion Apparel products. The company operates stores and boutiques in 50 countries.

Garmin International, Inc. (913-397-8200) will open its first retail store this month in Chicago, IL. Garmin International, Inc. is a part of Garmin, Ltd., a group of companies which designs and manufacturers navigation, communication and information devices, most of which are enabled by GPS technology. The store will be the world’s first store specializing in GPS equipment.

The Fresh Market, Inc. (336-272-1338) is planning to open additional stores in MI, following the opening of its first MI store, a 23,500 sq.ft. location in Rochester Hills last month. The company operates 60 stores in 16 states.
