Next Realty, LLC (312-654-8900) hired Eteri Zaslavsky as director of retail acquisitions. In this role, she will assist in the expansion of Next Realty’s retail property acquisition activities. Prior to joining Next, Zaslavsky worked for Allstate Investments, where she was responsible for underwriting commercial real estate loans and completed more than $550 million in transaction volume. She also worked at The Tuckerman Group analyzing equity and mezzanine debt investment opportunities, and in the capital markets group of Jones Lang LaSalle, where she represented clients in the dispositions of more than $725 million real estate assets. The company also promoted Rob Meeks, G. Matthew Silvers, David Worth and David Caplan to principal positions in three of the company’s operating units. Previously, Meeks served as senior broker for Next Realty Mid-Atlantic. In the Chicago office, Silvers and Caplan formerly served as senior brokers for Next Realty Midwest, while Worth served as director of acquisitions for Next Realty. Meeks brings with him experience in identifying properties for development or rehabilitation, with a special interest in urban development. Silvers joined Next Realty in 2002 as a senior broker via the firm’s acquisition of Wabash Associates, Inc., where he concentrated on real estate brokerage, development and consultation for institutional and non-institutional clients.

 

Johnson Capital New York (212-888-9261) hired Charles A. Kerecz as a senior director in the firm’s New York, NY office. Kerecz has over 18 years of commercial real estate acquisition and development experience in structured finance of over $800 million in value-added transactions. Most recently, he served as senior vice president at Carlton Group, where he advised and arranged financing for over $150 million in successful hotel acquisitions/redevelopment and residential condominium conversions. He has also arranged financing for over $200 million in successful residential condominium conversions to an established developer and HNW investor base.

 

Bella Terra (714-897-2534) named Patricia Apel as general manager of the Bella Terra shopping center in Huntington Beach, CA.  As the general manager, Apel directs the center’s operations and interface with more than 70 retailers, restaurants and upscale establishments at the 772,000 sq.ft. Italian-themed center. Most recently, Apel was director of real estate for El Torito Restaurants. Her previous positions include property manager for Marketplace Properties, a developer of supermarket-anchored centers in southern CA, five years as director of real estate for Wherehouse Entertainment and a real estate and project manager for a 300-store optical chain with stores in CA, NV and the Midwest.

 

Jones Lang LaSalle, Inc. (312-228-2387) promoted Kristin Mueller, Executive Vice President, to the position of International Director, a designation recognizing senior professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the firm. Mueller is one of 34 Jones Lang LaSalle executives who were named International Directors this year. As an executive vice president in the firm’s retail group, Mueller is responsible for leading the business development efforts. This includes seeking new clients and property types, new assignments with existing clients and new lines of business, including strategic consulting services. Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, she was associated with Urban Shopping Centers, Inc., where she held a variety of positions, including general manager of shopping centers throughout CA, FL, MA, SC and Washington, DC.

 

Commercial Realty Advisors, LLC (520-290-3200) hired Watson Chaiyasut as one of its retail specialists. His responsibilities will include the marketing and leasing of neighborhood shopping centers, tenant representation and retail and office leases.  Before launching a career in retail real estate, Chaiyasut worked as assistant project engineer for the company and its affiliate, Commercial Retail Investors as an undergraduate in the University of Arizona internship program.

 

BPG Properties (215-575-2387) appointed Kelly Gibbel to senior asset manager in the company’s Chicago, IL regional office.  Gibbel joins BPG from CarrAmerica Realty Corp. in Washington, DC, where as a senior property manager she was responsible for the organizational management, construction oversight and financial planning of six Class A office buildings totaling one million sq.ft. Prior to joining CarrAmerica, Gibbel was a vice president with the Northern Trust Co. for 21 years where she oversaw management and operation of real estate portfolios for private and pension fund clients.
