Who's Opening and Where 99 Cents Only Stores (323-980-8145) is planning to open stores in AZ, CA, NV and TX. The company operates 245 deep-discount retail stores in AZ, CA, NV and TX as well as a wholesale division, Bargain Wholesale.
Market World Hannam (213-382-2922) is planning to open a store in Rancho Cucamonga, CA at the intersection of 19th Street and Carnelian Street. Opening is slated for summer. The 36,000 sq.ft. Asian supermarket will sell baked goods, prepared deli items and will also provide items found in mainstream stores. The company operates five stores in southern CA. The store will face competition from Ranch 99, which is scheduled to open in Chino Hills, CA during April or May.
Wal*Mart Stores, Inc. (800-925-6278) is planning to open a 99,000 sq.ft. supercenter in Douglas, WY. The store will feature a grocery center, pharmacy and possible photo center and is slated to open during the next two years. The company is also planning new store locations in Rawlins and Worland, WY.
Pizza Inn, Inc. (469-384-5000) is opening a buffet in St. Augustine, FL through a franchisee, WMC, Inc. The 4,700 sq.ft. restaurant seats 145 and is located at Lewis Pointe Plaza on U.S. Highway 1 South. The restaurants offer buffet-style dining, a special events room and a game room equipped with video games, as well as offering a variety of pizza, pasta, salads and desserts. The franchisor has targeted the Ashville and Greenville/Spartanburg, SC areas; the Knoxville, TN area and areas on the TN and VA border for future growth.
Brueggar’s Enterprises, Inc. (802-660-4020) is planning to open 10 bakery locations in Charleston and Columbia, SC by spring. The first Columbia location will open on Forest Drive during May. The restaurants offer boiled and baked bagels, sandwiches, salads and coffee.
Five Guys Enterprises, LLC (703-751-6844) is planning to open a Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries restaurant on Senate Street in Vista, SC this month. The location is cotenanted with Monterrey Mexican Restaurant. The franchisor is also expanding in DE and in Carrollwood, New Tampa, Riverview and Oldsmar, FL. The company operates 127 locations in CT, DE, FL, GA, MD, NC, NJ, NY, PA, SC, VA and Washington, DC.
Nugget Market (530-669-3300) is planning to open two stores in Elk Grove, CA and Roseville, CA this year. The company currently operates 11 independent specialty grocery stores.
Ace Hardware (630-990-6600) is planning to open 180 stores this year, after opening 188 units last year. New stores will average 14,000 sq.ft. The company currently operates 4,600 stores nationwide.
Starplex Cinemas (214-692-6494) is planning to open a 44,679 sq.ft., 14-screen cinema at Constitution Trail Centre in Normal, IL. The theater will anchor the center. The company operates 24 theaters with 215 screens throughout CA, CO, FL, IL, NE, NJ, OH, OK, TX and WA.
Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams (828-632-9200) is planning to open a furniture store in Washington, DC on 14 th Street Northwest during April. The 8,000 sq.ft. store will be located on 14th Street Northwest and is a former Storehouse. The company currently operates 12 freestanding stores and also sells to other furniture stores.
Ashley HomeStores, Ltd. (608-323-3377) is planning to open up to 12 stores in the San Francisco, CA area through an investment group, California Furniture Solutions. Currently, the company operates two Bay-area stores in Fairfield and in Rohnert Park. A Fremont store is under construction as part of a plan to open six to nine more stores during the next three years. Store openings are being considered in Walnut Creek and Concord. There are 300 licensed and company-owned Ashley stores nationwide.
IKEA (610-834-0180) is planning to open a furniture store in Charlotte, NC during spring 2009. It would be the first IKEA store in the Carolinas.
ProSource Wholesale Floorcoverings (800-787-7748) is planning to open 20 showrooms with a new concept by the end of next year in Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; Orange County, CA; San Francisco, CA and Washington, DC. The company opened four this year with a fifth scheduled for Bellevue, WA. The new concept features a 7,000 sq.ft. design-centered format.
Liz Claiborne, Inc. (212-354-4900) is planning to open 15 Juicy Couture stores in the U.S. this year, as well as a store in Milan, Italy this month. The fashion brand is opening a store on Bleecker Street in New York, NY that will occupy 7,500 sq.ft. on two levels and offer all Juicy brand products, including women’s apparel and accessories, the Juicy Couture high-end collection, men’s wear, children’s wear and pet apparel and accessories. In September, the company will open a 5,000 sq.ft. world flagship in Beverly Hills, CA on Rodeo Drive.
Merrell (616-866-5500) opened a shoe store in Norcross, GA at the Forum, a 580,000 sq.ft. shopping center. The store will carry more than 350 styles of Merrell’s men’s, women’s and kids’ footwear within the Outventure outdoor brand and the Transit lifestyle brand.
Rockport (781-401-7260) may open 20 stores this year with a new design in the U.S., Russia, Korea and United Arab Emirates. The company operates 58 shoe stores in the U.S. with openings most recently in MI and TX.
LA Fitness International, LLC (949-255-7200) is opening a store at Bronk’s Corners in Joliet, IL as part of the company’s plan to open 25 to 30 fitness clubs in the Chicago area. The club will occupy 45,000 sq.ft. The company is in the process of opening a location in Tinley Park and operates health clubs in Evanston and Hanover Park.
Golf Galaxy, Inc. (952-941-8848) is planning to open 16 to 19 Golf Galaxy stores during the next fiscal year, including a 15,000 sq.ft. store in Madison, WI on High Point Road, which is slated to open this spring. The company operates 65 stores in 24 states, including three stores throughout WI in Appleton, Brookfield and Greenfield. Area competition includes Golf Shack and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Fashion to Figure Stores (800-949-3085) is planning to open two Fashion to Figure plus-size stores in Westchester, NY, as well as locations in Yonkers and White Plains, NY. A store is also planned for Elizabeth, NJ at Jersey Gardens Mall. The company currently operates stores in NJ at the Livingston Mall and in NY at the Palisades Center.
Davidus Cigars (800-984-0910) is planning to open a cigar shop during May in Urbana, MD on Patrick Street. The 1,300 sq.ft. store will include a sales floor at ground level and a smoking lounge on the second floor. The company currently operates five stores throughout MD in Ellicott City, Gaithersburg, Olney and Potomac.
Mayorga Coffee, Inc. (301-315-8093) will open a 5,000 sq.ft. Mayorga Coffee Roasters store in Washington, DC this month. The store, located in the Columbia Heights area of Washington, DC, will feature a full bar, free Wi-Fi Internet access and live entertainment.
Dominos Pizza, LLC (734-930-3030) is planning to open 50 fast food pizza stores annually to increase its store count from 430 to 1,000 units.
The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (717-757-7660) is planning to renovate and reconfigure Parisian and Elder-Beerman stores in IA, IN and OH. The 130,000 sq.ft. Parisian location at the Fairfield Commons Mall located in Beavercreek, OH will be renovated and reconfigured to offer ladies’ ready-to-wear, cosmetics, shoes, fashion accessories and intimate apparel. At the 150,000 sq.ft. Elder-Beerman location at the center, the store will be able to accommodate home products, men and children’s wear as well as a 65,000 sq.ft. furniture gallery. The renovations are slated to be complete during September, with both stores operating as Elder-Beerman. The 144,000 sq.ft. Parisian Circle Centre in Indianapolis, IN will be renovated to include a 15,000 sq.ft. home store and is scheduled to open during July. The store will operate as Carson Pirie Scott.
Juice It Up (949-475-0146) is planning to open 55 stores annually. The stores offer smoothies, power shakes, Brazilian blends, nectars, fresh-squeezed juice and coffees and teas. The company currently operates 124 stores throughout AZ, CA, FL, TN, TX and WA. |
