The Boxing Club Sport & Fitness Training Centers (858-320-0060) are planning to open a 22,914 sq.ft. location on Roosevelt Road at Liberty Station in San Diego, CA. Opening is scheduled for the end of this year. The centers feature a full-service fitness club, locker rooms, three boxing rings, pilates studio, yoga studio, kid’s club, customized personal training programs, nutritional meal plans and group exercise programs. The company currently operates locations throughout San Diego County, CA in La Jolla, Kearny Mesa, Pacific Beach and Carlsbad with a location scheduled to open during June in La Mesa and a location scheduled to open during September in Point Loma. An additional seven locations are planned throughout San Diego County, CA by mid-2008.

Publix Super Markets, Inc. (863-688-1188) is planning to open a 45,000 sq.ft. Publix supermarket at the site of the future Lakewood Walk center located at the intersection of State Road 70 and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard in Lakewood Ranch, FL. The center will also feature 25,000 sq.ft. of retail space with two to three banks, a fast-food restaurant and gas station to be built on the site’s outparcels, all of which are scheduled to open during late November or early December. The supermarket is scheduled to open at the end of September and this is the company’s third location in Lakewood Ranch.

Borders Group, Inc. (734-477-1100) is planning to open a 21,532 sq.ft. Borders book store at The District at Tustin Legacy located at the intersection of Jamboree Road and Barranca Parkway in Tustin, CA. The bookstore is scheduled to open during late June at the one million sq.ft. lifestyle and entertainment center. The company features a selection of over 200,000 book, music and movie titles and operates more than 1,300 stores under the trade names Borders and Waldenbooks worldwide.

Harris Teeter (704-844-3100) is planning to open a 54,000 sq.ft. store at the intersection of U.S. 17 and N.C. 210 in Surf City, NC. The supermarket will anchor an 82,000 sq.ft. shopping center and will be adjacent to Lowe’s Home Improvement. Groundbreaking for the center is scheduled for the end of 2008 or during 2009 and will feature 12 retailers. The chain of supermarkets currently operates
155 locations throughout DE, FL, GA, NC, SC, TN and VA.

Pinkberry (323-730-9889) is planning to open 30 locations in NY by the end of 2008. The frozen yogurt shops currently operate three locations in Manhattan, NY.

Urban Chic (877-490-9952) is planning to open stores in Orlando, FL. The chain of women’s clothing boutiques currently operates three locations.

Gander Mountain (651-325-4300) is planning to open more than 12 locations this year. A 64,500 sq.ft. store is scheduled to open this month on Technology Drive in Eden Prairie, MN and will replace an existing 29,500 sq.ft. location in Minnetonka, MN. The stores feature a variety of hunting, fishing, camping, marine and outdoor lifestyle products and services. The company plans to open an additional three locations by July with the remaining locations opening by year’s end. The chain currently operates 105 stores in 22 states.

Rug Décor (314-506-0000) is planning to open 60 company-owned and franchise locations by 2008. New store openings are confirmed for the beginning of 2007 in Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL and Phoenix, AZ. The stores, selling branded, fashion oriented area and accent rugs, occupy spaces of 3,000 sq.ft. to 4,000 sq.ft. The company currently operates 34 locations nationwide.

Best Buy (612-291-1000) is planning to open a store this summer at Owings Mills Square, located at the intersection of Owings Mills Boulevard and Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills, MD. The center is to be situated on a land area of 10 acres and will be tenanted by Famous Dave’s, Qdoba Mexican Grill, Chick-Fil-A and Noodles & Co.

Safeway, Inc. (877-723-3929) is planning to open 17 lifestyle concept supermarkets throughout the year. In 2006, the company opened 17 stores and remodeled 276 locations into the lifestyle concept, which features upscale additions, including soft lighting, hardwood floors, and offers gourmet and premium foods such as organic products, imported cheeses and prepared foods.

Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Inc. (800-999-2132) is planning to open 30 locations this year. The specialty coffee shops offer fresh-roasted coffee, hand-selected tea and related items which are sold throughout grocery, home delivery, office, food service accounts and company-owned stores nationwide. The chain operates 136 locations.

Old Navy (650-952-4400) is opening an 18,000 sq.ft. store near the Mall at Millenia on Conroy Road in Orlando, FL. Opening is scheduled for summer. An 18,000 sq.ft. West Elm furniture store is scheduled to be built next to Old Navy.

Cork & Olive (800-709-0997) is planning to open 20 franchise locations throughout Heathrow, Longwood, Maitland, Winter Garden, Winter Park and Orlando, FL. The stores specialize in wines from family-owned vineyards and feature a wine-tasting table in the store. The company currently operates 10 company-owned stores with 10 franchised locations in FL.

Johnny’s Lunch, LLC (716-664-2881) is planning to open franchised units throughout Toledo, OH. An additional 25 locations are scheduled to open throughout northwest OH along with 75 locations scheduled to open throughout MI in addition to 50 units in NY and PA. Aaron Rents (678-402-3000) is planning to expand its number of store locations this year by opening 350 new stores during the coming 18 months. The stores offer popular products, furniture and appliances at low weekly rates and offer the option to rent or buy.

DirectBuy (219-736-1100) is planning to open a franchised location in Columbia, SC during the summer. The membership-only outlet centers offer discounted furniture, floor tiling, lighting and home and entertainment accessories. The company currently operates 134 locations nationwide and in Canada.

Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (800-445-6937) is planning to open a 153,000 sq.ft. Lowe’s Home Improvement center in Ticonderoga, NY. The home improvement chain acquired the 23-acre site. The store is scheduled to open during December.

Supercuts (952-947-7777) recently opened a location at Robeson Plaza located at the intersection of Kirby and Mattis Avenue in Champaign, IL. The hair salons offer services on a walk-in basis and sell professional hair products. Further expansion will take place throughout the east central region of IL.

Kohl’s (262-703-7000) is planning to open
a store on Ford Avenue in Effingham, IL
during October. The 67,000 sq.ft.
department store will be located across from a Wal*Mart Supercenter.
