Who's Opening & Where

Max Muscle (714-456-0700) plans to open 500 stores nationwide during the next five years, including 35 units this year. The company operates 103 stores, including 70 locations throughout CA. Other stores are located in the Albuquerque, NM; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Las Vegas, NV; Phoenix, AZ and Seattle, WA markets. The stores average 1,500 sq.ft. in size and offer vitamins and supplements.

Best Buy Co., Inc. (612-291-1000) is planning to open a 45,000 sq.ft. store located on Ford Road in Canton, MI.

Steve & Barry’s (516-829-4730) is planning to open 70 to 75 stores this year. While the company mostly operates in malls, it is also now seeking spaces in strip and lifestyle centers, as well as freestanding locations. The company has stores located in 33 states, offering the Starbury clothing line by Stephon Marbuy and Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker.

Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (704-758-1000) is opening a Lowe’s Home Improvement location at Woodhaven Gateway Center, a 300,000 sq.ft. shopping center located at the intersection of West Road and Interstate 75 in Woodhaven, MI.

Target Corp. (612-304-6073) is opening a Target store in Macomb, MI at the intersection of Hall Road and Heydenreich Road next October.

Bissinger’s (314-534-2401) recently opened Bissinger’s: A Chocolate Experience at a storefront in a trendy section of St. Louis, MO. The 900 sq.ft. store offers the company’s chocolates, desserts, wine, liqueurs, coffees, tea and a lounge that can seat 20. The company operates five stores mostly in malls.

Dunkin’ Brands, Inc. (781-737-3000) plans to triple the number of Dunkin’ Donuts locations nationwide to 15,000 by 2018. The company operates 2,200 locations in 29 other countries, as well, and also operates 5,800 Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops and 280 Togo’s sandwich shops.

CVS (401-765-1500) plans to have 7,000 drug stores operating by 2010.

Little Caesars Enterprises (313-983-6000) plans to open pizza shops in AK, HI, NC, NJ, NY, SC and TX this year.

HoneyBaked Ham Co. (678-966-3310) is planning to open 200 HoneyBaked Ham Café locations by 2010, with 20 to 25 openings annually. The 1,600 sq.ft. locations offer 17 made-to-order sandwiches with seating for 20 and provide to-go services

Sportsman’s Warehouse (801-566-6681) is planning to open a location at Fairlane Green, located in Allen Park, MI at the intersection of Interstate 94, Southfield Freeway, Outer Drive and Oakwood Boulevard. The 500,000 sq.ft. shopping center will also house Home Depot, Meijer and Best Buy.

Gold’s Gym (214-574-4653) is planning to open a 60,000 sq.ft. health club at Fountain Walk, a 720,000 sq.ft. shopping center located at the intersection of 12 Mile and Novi Road in Novi, MI.

Alessi USA, Inc. (212-431-1310) plans to open a freestanding housewares store in Chicago, IL this month. Recently, the company opened its second store in New York, NY, a 500 sq.ft. store located on East 60^th Street. The company also operates a flagship store in San Francisco, CA.

BankAtlantic Bancorp, Inc. (954-940-5000) is planning to open 11 to 13 banks during the rest of the year. The company operates 94 locations throughout FL.
