| Who's Opening & Where Lowe’s Cos. (704-758-1000) is planning to open a Lowe’s Home Improvement location in Burlington Township, NJ on Burlington-Mount Holly Road/Route 541. The 137,933 sq.ft.store will be situated on a land area of 16 acres between Kmart and Vespia’s Tire Center and will feature a 31,179 sq.ft. garden center. The company currently operates 35 stores throughout NJ, including three in Burlington County. The proposed Burlington Township store would join locations in Delran, Maple Shade and Lumberton. Nationwide, the company operates 1,425 stores in 49 states. The company is also planning to open its first three stores in Canada during December. The first of six planned openings will be in Brampton, Brantford and Hamilton, as well as a Toronto location planned for January. The company plans to open 18 stores throughout Canada, with an goal of having 100 in operation during the coming years. Fresh Market (336-272-1338) is planning to open a 22,000 sq.ft. anchor store at a shopping center being developed at the intersection of Rudy Lane and Brownsboro Road in Louisville, KY. Opening is planned for 2009. The site is currently tenanted by Brownsboro Inn, which will be razed. Steak N Shake (317-633-4100) is planning to open a restaurant at the Phoenix Center II shopping center in Franklin County, MO during the end of October or early November. The center is anchored by a recently opened Target in addition to Kohl’s, which is scheduled to open next month. Construction has begun on a Bob Evans restaurant, as well as two multi-tenant buildings near Target, which will accommodate a Qdoba Mexican restaurant, Starbucks coffee shop and a Jimmie John’s Sub Shop, all of which are slated to open by the end of the year. An additional 10 retailers are scheduled to open by spring 2008. Knockouts Haircuts for Men (972-819-2095) plans to open four franchised locations throughout IN and New England beginning late this year. BodyScapes Fitness (508-460-8882) plans to have 12 health clubs throughout MA open by the end of the year. The locations will occupy between 1,500 sq.ft. to 2,000 sq.ft. The company operates as BodyScapes Personal Training and franchised-owned locations operate under the trade name One2One BodyScapes. Maurices (218-727-8431) plans to open a 4,760 sq.ft. store in Pontiac, IL next month. The store will feature moderately priced casual and dress apparel for women sizes 1 to 24. Area retailers include Wal*Mart Supercenter. The company plans to have opened a total of 50 stores during the year and currently operates over 600 locations in 42 states nationwide. Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. (817-496-4414) recently opened a store in Anchorage, AK at the Lake Otis and Tudor Shopping Center, located on Tudor Road, as part of the company’s plans to open 10 stores this year. The AK store is its ninth opening. The company currently operates 71 locations, offering leather, leatherworking tools, buckles and belt adornments, leather dyes and finishes, saddle and tack hardware and do-it-yourself kits. Dinner By Design (847-986-3565) signed an agreement with franchisees in HI and Canada to open meal assembly stores. In Canada, the franchisee plans to open 24 locations in Ontario during the next two years. In HI, the franchisee plans to open at least three units. Damon’s International, Inc. (614-442-7900) is planning to open 10 to 15 Damon’s Grill restaurants next year, including two locations based on the company’s new prototype, one of which will be located in Columbus, OH. The new prototype is smaller, more efficient and features a new corporate logo. Vann’s, Inc. (406-541-6000) is planning to open a 12,000 sq.ft. location at Skyway Regional Shopping Center in Helena, MT. Opening is slated for April or May of next year. Cotenants at the center include Macaroni Grill and Chili’s. The company currently operates seven stores selling electronics and appliances throughout MT. Costco Wholesale Corp. (425-313-8100) is planning to open an anchor location at Lakewood Center in Lakewood, CA. The store, which is the first anchor site for the company in southern CA, will open later next year. The space was formerly occupied by Macy’s. Anchors also include Target, JCPenney and Mervyn’s. The company currently operates 60 locations throughout the Southland section of CA. Publix Super Markets, Inc. (863-688-1188) is planning to open a 45,000 sq.ft. anchor location at The Market at Victory Village, located at the intersection of Rucker Lane and Franklin Road/State Highway 96 in Murfreesboro, TN. The 70,700 sq.ft. center will be cotenanted by Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant. Another Publix is planned in Murfreesboro at The Market at Salem Cove. Opening is slated for 2009. Target Corp. (612-304-6073) is planning to open a 137,000 sq.ft. store on 19 acres on Second Street in Davis, CA. Opening is slated for March 2009. BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. (714-500-2400) is planning to open four restaurants this year for a total of 13 openings for 2007. The company recently opened an 8,500 sq.ft. BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse on Pacific Avenue in Stockton, CA. The company currently operates 64 casual dining restaurants under the trade names BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse and BJ’s Pizza & Grill throughout AZ, CA, CO, FL, NV, OH, OK, OR and TX. Taco Del Mar (206-624-7060), through a franchisee, is planning to open a Mexican restaurant on New George’s Creek Road in Frostburg, MD during November and is opening a location at Country Club Mall, located on Vocke Road in Cumberland, MD this month. The franchisee plans to develop 65 restaurants during the next 10 years. Taco Del Mar offers burritos, platters, tacos, salads and vegetarian/vegan options. Pumpkin Patch (800-898-0344) is planning to open 16 stores nationwide next year. Last year, the children’s clothing chain opened 11 stores and currently operates 18 nationwide. The company also operates 200 stores worldwide, including in Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain. Max & Erma’s Restaurants, Inc. (614-431-5800) is planning to open
two company-owned restaurants in Clinton, MI and Washington, PA during the
