The company has introduced new prototypes and has converted 50 of its seafood departments and 62 of its floral departments. Taco Del Mar (206-624-7060) is expanding throughout the Cincinnati, OH market, with 100 planned openings spanning the area between Lexington and Dayton. Most recently, the company opened three sites in Temple, AZ and Glendale and Montebello, CA. The company currently operates 67 casual dining restaurants under the trade names BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse or BJ’s Pizza & Grill. The company will be focusing its expansion plans in CA and FL, and has most recently opened stores throughout AK, HI and OR. The stores range from 42,000 sq.ft. to 50,000 sq.ft. The company currently operates 400 stores in 45 states. Crate & Barrel (847-272-2888) recently opened its spin-off chain, CB2, this month in New York, NY, joining its two other locations in Chicago, IL. The 8,000 sq.ft. store will offer furniture, dinnerware, barware, flatware, rugs, accessories and lighting. Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp. (310-536-0611) is planning to open seven stores by the end of the year, bringing its total new store count for this year to 20. The company operates 356 stores in 10 states. The sporting good stores average 11,000 sq.ft. and offer athletic shoes, apparel and accessories, and outdoor and athletic equipment for team sports, fitness, camping, hunting, fishing, tennis, golf, snowboarding and inline skating. American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (412-432-3300) is planning to open 100 aerie stores by the end of next year, with plans to potentially have 400 to 500 in operation. The stores offer intimate apparel for women. Recently, the company opened a 4,144 sq.ft. store at South Hills Village in Pittsburgh, PA. SpaceNK (212-941-4222) plans to have four stores open in the New York, NY metropolitan area by the end of the year. The company recently opened a store in the SoHo section of Manhattan and has plans to open stores in NJ, Scarsdale and on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The British-based company specializes in skin-care products. L.L. Bean (207-552-3028) plans to open 32 stores by 2012 including a 30,000 sq.ft. store in Victor, NY near the Eastview Mall next fall. In the state, the company recently opened a store in Albany this fall and an outlet store in Fayetteville. Target Corp. (612-304-6073) is planning to open a store at City Point in Brooklyn, NY during 2011. The 132,000 sq.ft. store will be located near another Target store at Atlantic Terminal Mall. Piggly Wiggly, LLC (920-457-4433) is planning to open a grocery store at The Market Common in Myrtle Beach, SC next spring. The store will be a new prototype that will feature a new layout and will group foods differently than existing stores. Tiffany & Co. (212-755-8000) is planning to open its third CT location at Westfarms mall during May 2008. In addition, the company is opening a smaller holiday shop at the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, CT. The company also operates stores in Greenwich and Westport, CT, as well as 160 stores in 18 countries, including 68 in the U.S. AnnTaylor Stores Corp. (212-541-3300) recently opened its 500th Ann Taylor Loft store and plans to eventually have 800 stores in operation nationwide. The company operates 887 stores under the trade names Ann Taylor and Loft nationwide in 46 states, Washington, DC and Puerto Rico. Cabela’s, Inc. (308-254-5505) is planning to open seven stores next year, including a store slated for Billings, MT during summer 2008. During the fourth quarter of this year, the company opened the following stores: in East Hartford, CT; Gonzales, LA and Hammond, IN. Wal*Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) is planning to open a 200,000 sq.ft. Wal*Mart Supercenter at the intersection of Interstate 43 and WI Highway 42 in Sheboygan, WI. The store is slated to open during March or April 2008. Toys "R" Us, Inc. (973-617-3500) is planning to combine its toy and baby stores into larger superstores that will sell baby products and toys. This month, the company is opening superstores in Elizabeth, NJ and in CA, which will be followed by stores this fall in AZ and FL. Overall, the company plans to open several superstores. Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Inc. (510-594-2100) plans to open 30 locations after opening 33 coffee and tea shops during the past year. The company also distributed its product at 1,300 grocery store outlets this past year. OfficeMax, Inc. Menards (715-876-5911) is planning to open a location at the intersection of Interstate 43 and WI Highway 42 in Sheboygan, WI during February 2008. The 214,000 sq.ft. store will replace an existing Menards located on Highway J. Furniture Row Cos. (303-371-8560) is opening a four-store furniture center on Foy Fitch Lane in Johnson City, TN and plans to open another center on Peach Tree Street in Erie, PA this winter. The centers consist of four separate stores: Oak Express, offering dining, entertainment and home office furniture made from oak, cherry, maple and pine; Bedroom Expressions, which specializes in bedroom furniture; Sofa Mart, offering casual leather and upholstered home furnishings, as well as occasional tables, armoires and home accessories, and Denver Mattress Company, a mattress manufacturer and retailer offering its private-label mattress exclusively. The company also operates Big Sur Water Bed. There are currently 330 stores in operation throughout 31 states. Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) is planning to open an anchor store at the Burlington Mall in Burlington, MA. The 138,000 sq.ft. store is slated to open during March 2008 and will be the company’s second in MA. The mall is undergoing a 215,000 sq.ft. expansion and will be tenanted by Free People, Sony Style, Blue Mercury, Cole Haan and Samsonite Black Label.
